Hi I was looking if someone could help me show black bars at the beginning of battle to make the battle feel more engaged. Here's a gif of what I mean.

The black bars appear behind the Battle HUD to kind of bring in the player as soon as the battle starts.

Just use an event that has Show Picture (and Move Picture if you want them to come in from the edges) at the start of the battle.

When I do, it covers the battle HUD. How can I make it so it’s behind the Battle HUD?

Not sure if there is a script to do this or if it can be done by commands.
Here is where you can see that the background is set that way with background having black bars.
As found on this site.
Here is a japanese site discussing the mother 3 game for vx ace.
Which I linked to from another site that has this link for a file with a project that has what you want built in. But it's not a working project and I'm not sure what is actually causing the background to have black bars because the background image does not have black bars.

Oh I should've mentioned I'm the one who made that project haha. I wanted to see if there was an alternative way to make the bars move in as the battle started. That's a very old version of the project to so it's much more functional now. For that I edited the Spriteset_Battle script and created "belts" that could be moved off screen at the end of the battle, but I couldn't get them to move in as the battle started. But I appreciate the help nonetheless. I could DM you the script or post it here. Maybe you could help me out with that?

It you made that, then I would say your coding skills are better than mine. But the only difference I see is the black bars are slightly animated where they kind of zoom in. So maybe you can make it zoomed in picture then have it zoom out to return to normal.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
