Hi Guys
Well, i'm currently evaluating some engines for an Adventure Game i'm planning. There won't be any combat or stats, only dialogues, an inventory and portrait animation.
The whole thing should be from a Sidescroller View. I've seen it being done in RPG Maker on YouTube and it looks nice, but still i've got some questions which you might be able to help me answer:
- I'd like to implement a Portrait View of the Player Character which is always visible in the Bottom of the Screen and reacts to certain situations. There are also idle animations like blinking etc. which make it feel more alive.
- The Inventory should also always be visible in the Bottom of the Screen, in a Hotbar kind of way.
- I think my characters are not in 48 x 48, but more like in traditional adventure games, where the height and width of a Character depends on his or her physical appearance.
To make things a bit more clearer, i attached a Screenshot of a Game i'm currently working on in Visionaire, which pretty much has all of these features implemented (except Keyboard Control of the Game, which Visionaire doesn't offer, that's why it's in a more traditional Point n' Click vein.)
