Silence! The Elder Speaks is a lighthearted narrative adventure about a small forest hamlet in which a handful of eccentric villagers are kept in line by a stoic, androgynous shaman. Through dialogue and choices, the player crafts a story that takes place over five days.

Silence! is the first game by First Fossil Press, a two-person team. It features an original soundtrack and art in classic 16-bit RPG style.

The story and humor were written to complement the 16-bit RPG aesthetic, but Silence! is not a traditional RPG. There are no Game Overs. There are no stats, no battles, no XP, and you won't ever get killed by monsters--just old age. The game does have side-quests, but you only have to do them if you want to save Quick Larry.

Gameplay features include:

  • Inventory-based puzzles
  • Story outcome influenced by player choice
  • Lots of fun NPC dialogue
  • Repurposed battle system to allow player to perform a ritual
  • Point-and-click investigation
  • Art by the terminator
  • Original soundtrack created by fellow forum user theArsNotoria

The Acolytes, all ready to become the next shaman,

Meryl, who may or may not become a carpenter,

Keith Sweat, a chicken,

Beet Chef, a cooker of beets, and belter of bad songs,

And finally, Shaman, the Elder, and Nameless One.

Thanks for taking a look!

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
