I have an issue with a game I'm working on where I want the main character to be the only real party member, but backed up by a support character. Eventually I want the player to have the ability to choose from a few different support members to fit their approach to battle. For example, one support offers buffs/debuffs on the enemy, another might assist with healing, another might do straight damage to the enemy and support that way.
But I'm having a hard time figuring out how I would do the selection process itself for choosing the support. Like I want the player to be able to choose from the menu who they want to assist, kind of like another equipment slot but a party member instead almost. Is their any feasible way to do this?
