Slack channel

Hello guys. I was thinking of making an unnoficial slack channel for the forums just like the old irc. Slack is like irc but with images, private channels, usernames and prettier xD. What do you think? We will need admins and that stuff but I think we can do it!

You mean similar to RMN's Slack?


It might be hard, RMN's Slack had a custom sign in page and needed moderators and we had lots of problem with a spammer since you can't tell, so that would be a big issue. Plus to have a big Slack you need to pay a subscription fee and all around it's pretty difficult.


With RMW's large userbase it'd be total madness, I mean RMN has just over 200 users on it's Slack, so RMW by comparison would have maybe 2000, if the ratio of Slack admins to Users stayed the same we'd need like 100 Admins... that's crazy...

Yes it would not be an official thing at all. I'm not going to tell you not to do it, but I just think, if you're wanting to simply chat with other users, you'd probably be best to seek out another group. I don't know who all is involved in them, as I don't have the time to participate, but perhaps someone will respond here, or maybe you could ask in a status update. There were also some topics about it here on the forum, so a search might turn up something and who to get in contact with.

Yup a mess which would have to be unofficial at the very least and would need anti-spammer measures against ban-evaders, you remember that.


Something like an RMW unofficial/official discord or IRC would be more managable and would make more sense if you wanted to have something like that.

There already is an unofficial RMW discord floating around, but it was typically pretty dead when I was a part of it. I think given the workloads of a lot of the potential users, something simple like this forum is a lot easier to manage since you can just pop in whenever you have a few minutes and you dont have to worry about losing track of whatever conversations you're in the middle of since the threads make it easy to find.
