DOWNLOAD SLAY THE DRAGON - COMPLETE EDITION
(Version 2.0 - 10/14/15)

INTRODUCTION
Slay the Dragon is a retro-styled RPG, in the graphical style of the Gameboy. Your playable characters are four heroes from another land, and you have been summoned to this land to save the princess of the kingdom of Harp from the Dragon Keep. Each hero has their own unique class, and each one has their own role in battle to help them ascend the tower and save the princess. It is a simple game, with a simple concept, and only one town and one dungeon in it, but it has it's fair share of secrets, and there just may be more to this simple quest than meets the eye... What will happen when you reach the top of the Dragon Keep? Will you be able to save the princess, or not?

If I could double like this I would do it.

Not to mention that the download is under 25MB!!!

So I will try this instantly and will come back with feedback.

Feedback:

Okay this is a very Game Boy experience game.

It has the same ear annoying sound.

This is nice! Music is okay, after all that was MEANT to be retro.

Graphics are well made and follow the no color principle of the first Game Boy.

Monsters are funny, well done!

Gameplay is well made.

The game seems small found the dragon but did not did grinding to level my heroes up so I  am not sure about that.

An excellent fact is that I found no bugs. I did NOT beta tested it, but it was nicely done.

I liked it.

Congratulations.

Love the retro feel of this. The dragon sprite in the title menu is awesome as well, props to whoever made it!

  • I like how the NPC that warns you of poisonous monsters outside is standing right in front of a treasure chest containing an Antidote. Nice placement!
  • I got the girl to tell me there's something in the well. So I got the key from the well and I gave it to the girl. I instantly wondered if I was going to regret doing that.
  • From the world map, I like how I could enter the castle from behind and get that HP plus from the chest. I miss these kinds of secrets (though the bridge on the world map kind of gave away that there was a back entrance)
  • I found a secret in the first floor that led me to a locked chest. I'm thinking the key I gave to the girl opens this chest and now I'm wondering what I'm missing out on!
  • I fought a Mimic enemy and I swear a stole a Hi-Potion from it with Sara but I can't find it in my inventory after the fight! I was also supposed to have gotten a Revive for the fight and it's also not in my inventory.
  • It's a little disappointing that my core stats don't increase as I level up but I can see why you went that way.
  • Hahahaha, I love the twist ending!
  • So after getting the twist ending, I reloaded my save file and used the Look command when approaching the dragon and it mentions the lock. I immediate think I need the key from the well to unlock it so I go back to town and talk to the girl again but she won't say anything besides, "Good luck saving the Princess!". Is it impossible to 'beat' the game now????

I just played for about 20 minutes and I am enjoying it.

The visual style is great and the colour pallete is very nostalgic. Combined with the chip-tunes it really feels like a GameBoy game.

Some of the dialogue made me laugh. I'm greatful that most NPCs had unique things to say; that makes exploring the map so much more rewarding.

One thing I noticed that kind of made me double-take was all the modified Pokemon artwork. This is never really mentioned in the readme.txt but no big deal. ;)

Yes, without the key, it's impossible to get the true ending. You'll have to start over. Not that it's a long game to begin with.

As for the Hi-Potion and Revive, if you notice, you have a 10 item limit for your inventory. If you pick anything else up after you have 10 items, they are lost forever.

Well, first of all, I wasn't the one who designed the graphics.

Second of all... I don't think it's just modified Pokemon artwork. I think it's just inspired by it.

Heads up, if you've already downloaded the game, I just released an update to fix some minor issues and add a small new feature. I would recommend NOT trying to use your old saves as a few switches and stuff were messed with. Luckily, the game is short so I don't think anyone will have lost much progress. You can download the new version at the top of this thread :)

Why not go commercial with it? I think there's a market for it and it's all custom made i think?

This is the holy grail of the word "awesome"! I'd probably give my left kidney just to use those graphics. Can't wait to get home and play this.

Has almost passed this game. It is necessary to kill a dragon and to open a secret dungeon. Game very much was pleasant to me. Small, but very interesting it has turned out. And furthermore, in GameBoy style. Simply smartly left! :)   Only I and have not understood how to equip the weapon and the armors and so all is excellent.

I'm gonna guess English is not your first language so I'm gonna try and understand what you've said here...

1. It is not necessary to kill the dragon.

2. Killing the dragon has nothing to do with accessing the secret dungeon.

3. You can't equip weapons and armor. The equipment shop is a trap to get you to waste money.

Hey, great game.   Had to play it through twice because of the key, but I didn't mind too much.  How do I access the secret dungeon?

This game is amazing. PLAY IT NOW!

The minimalistic color scheme throughout and the ear piercing sound remind me of the good ol' days of playing Pokemon Blue on the GBC.

Man, you brought be back to being 12 years old again. Congrats.

The battle systems, maps, everything was flawless.  I have no feedback. Sorry.

I just came to wax poetic about this beautifully retro nostalgia trip.

PEOPLE. PLAY THIS. NAO. <3

Oldbies will be brought back, and newbies will savor a game that their mothers and fathers might have enjoyed. :)

I'd give you TEN stars if I could. :)

EDIT: I lied. There is one thing... If you could somehow make the game so that people won't NEED an RTP to be able to play this. THEN this game would be perfect.

Walk around in the tall grass for a little while, near the kid that talks about walking around in tall grass :)

I figured 99% of the people playing it would be people who have RPG Maker anyway so I figured I'd leave the RTP out.

True, but if you did this trick where you didn't need ANY RTP, your audience (or potential) would (or could!) grow!!! :D

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
