These are actually releases of earlier engines - Ace's "ancestors", so to speak. They've not been available to legally purchase in English until now, if my understanding of all of it is correct.
By definition something that is 15 and 12 years old respectively is unlikely to be 'next generation'. Which doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them if you want to make games in those engines. They are capable of producing some great games. A couple of my all time favourites were made using these. But their capabilities are limited in comparison with Ace.
ya as the numbers state these are the versions from 2000 and 2003 so 12-15 years ago. no need to pick them up unless you want to . humble bundle has adeal that with get you 90% off so might be a good time to pick them up. Also there is a newish engine out called GG . got an email from the makers of rpg maker about it . will cost $60 though.
Get them for fun/nostalgia. But don't stop what you're doing. Play with them on the side, or keep them for a future project. Finish what you're doing and then decide what to do next.
it's weird because one or two features in 2000/2003 are not in VX ACE but are really useful such as proper layers and the ability to make it automatically avoid blocking characters with text boxes. which are really useful.
i can't wait to drink some ice after struggling with my illness in 9 days. 9 days is really bad for me,i can't focus with my shop and even can't do something with my project
