I am buying RPG Maker XP, as it’s cheaper and more affordable and a friend has told me how it’s more powerful than Smile Game Builder for both 2d and yes even 3D with a script.

I got MV at a fairly major discount. May be worth it to keep an eye out for another sale.

RMXP got released around 2007.
It got a different Mapping System with more standard Layers, standard Fog, and the beloved 3x3 autotiles instead of 2x2 like used in most other makers.
Its most flexible with standard Tileset Map making but also not the easiest one. Besides that there is nothing else special or good about it.

I would wait for Steam Summer Sale and Check out RMMV Demo now.
One can fill lists with stuff that is awesome in MV which the other older Makers are not able to achieve.

If your Friend knows about rpg maker, than ask him why xp over mv? because mv is superior in everything except the difference i mentioned above.

Well for one, you don’t need a script for a custom message window

A good custom message window plugin is pretty easy to find and easy to install on MV from what I've seen.
Yes but with RPG Maker XP it doesn’t require a plugin for that.

Plugins aren't hard to find or install and that seems like a silly reason to buy an outdated program rather than to buy the latest version. I mean - it's your money.

Thanks for the advice but it’s all I could afford right now.

Ace also goes for cheap, so if you end up being in summer or in holidays, you could grab that one too. ;)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
