SO, hello its me again! so i've been watching parallax mapping after parallax mapping tutorial and i THOUGHT i had it down packed. everything looked GREAT after my first map (it wasn't supposed to be the first map in the game at all, but it was the first image i had in my head for it , so i wanted to make it first.)  so far, everything  looked great! the lighting was gorgeous. i was able to walk around the map as i wanted and things all seemed well.

but then i walked threw the door to my second map. (i map i also did entierally in Photoshop and parallaxed) and thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn i'm greeted with this! *points to image number 2* what?! but i followed the tutorials why is it doing that? the parallaxes are showing up in horrific ways out side of the designated map. (and it had done so before with the regular out of the program map i made too,i had hoped parallax a new one would solve the problem)

so, i tried to see what was wrong with the other map, and tested it. when i looked at the bedroom, i was greeted withhhhhhhhhhhhh * points to image 3* THIS! what?! why! there's only ONE! image?! there's no need for an overlay! why is it doing that?!  can someone hep?!

Do you by any chance have a parallax image set for that map? I dont mean the parallax MAP but that image you set in the map information window? Where you can change the size and tileset and so on?

it looks like you have your map sizes off and the images should match in dimensions...also if its the parallax movie a ! in front of the file name will keep it moving...one more thing, what happens if you change to no parallax on the map settings?

@Wookiee420

when i set it to no parallax, it turns itself off in my preview screen in the editor but it does not seem to have any effects at all in the overall game play itself.  i'm 99.999999 percent sure that the maps are the same pixal sizes and dimensions. because again, the grid was set tot he proper dimensions and with snap on its nearly impossible to offset it.

@Iliketea
however it does not have any moving pieces. so no, there is no "!" in front of it. and yes, there is a parallax of the same image saved on the ACTUAL map in the editor, not just an event.

Then try to to turn the parallax image inn the editor of and then try to go to the map again.

You may not be able to see the map in the editor but your problem will disappear.

Once you have done that you can just turn the image on again, just remember to turn it of again when you export it.

what is your project's screen size, what is the parallax size (both in pixels) and what is the map size (in tiles)?

the engine requires that the minimum map size is the same as the screen size, the displays get looping errors if the map size is smaller than the screen size

well the bedroom  MAP itself is 12 tiles by 14, while the room is rough 10 by 9 (excluding the bit with the door. the border also exists in the outer tiltes as well , just outside of the actual room tiles themselves.(like the floor and stuff)  the pixals are 576 by 672.Insert other media

you reduced the project's screen size???

Because that is smaller than the default screen size of 816x624 (which is also the minimum map size of 17x13 tiles for default projects)

Can you tell us which plugin you used to reduce the project's screen size? because that is most likely the cause for your problems.

Two things ...

the size of the parallax and the size of the map must be exactly the same.  These should be at least the size of the screen.

What are you using to show the parallax and the overlay?  If you're using Show Picture, pictures carry over from one map to the next.  You have to erase the picture if you don't want it visible on the next map.  If you're using a plugin, make sure you're using it correctly - have you set up all the switches/variables correctly?  Named your files correctly?  Not using those switches/variables for anything else?

What plugins are you using?

Then you need to make your map (and your parallax) bigger.

screen size of 816x624 and map size of 17x13 tiles are the minimum values you need, your map repeats because you made it smaller than that.

ok. good news. the map fits! and i no longer have issues involving image three. however im still seeing whats happening in image 2 happen with the parallax of the OTHER map showing up over the bedroom map. what am i doing wrong? the room is even on a higher number than the parallax on where it sits. by that logic, it shouldn't be there right? .

please show us the code you're using for the pictures - there are several ways this could happen, and they depend on how you displayed the pictures.

Whatever the 'goof', it's a Good Thing to post the solution as you have done; this will help in the future other folks in a similar situation. Well done for sorting it out.
