Very strange behaviour in my opinion. First postponing it a week before release and then - a month later - saying "Yeah, the release is in two days!

Well, I am very excited and will buy it on the first day. Although I think it will not be in perfect condition.

Personally, sounds like a we'll fix it later as the release was put off and changed so much.

I agree with @Holder , the first delay was obviously a tech-person overriding a marketing decision.
The second delay had no data but I assumed the same, and now it looks as if the marketing finally forced its way despite any possible problems remaining.

And don't forget that with MV and MZ it was similar in the way that they never bothered any international beta-testing. MV had a bug caused by the switch between dot and comma that is used by a lot of countries including germany, and all MV 1.0 crashed on any entering of any trait numbers due to Windows having switch to using 1,00 for the number one where english countries often use 1.00

Not to mention that the translation to German had a lot of bad word choices, they should have checked the Ace translation as a guideline if they never bothersd to ask a native German (for example "get location info" was basically translated as "get file path info", causing it to be not used in any way by new users until they discovered that it should have been translated as "get map location info".

Due to recent updates on the official RMU website, I would bet on a postponement of the delivery to finish the online documentation of the product, more than a product problem itself.


The good news is that the web manual is now well populated and gives a good idea of what the RMU will look like... even though it has been updated again in the last few hours (and will probably be updated again even after March 27).

On the dark side, according to the release plan on the Japanese version of the site, there is still work to be done until March 2024 to stabilize the solution. This is normal for a new product... but 1 year to stabilize it, it can seem long for known issues.

Edit: Sorry, I misread the japanese text. These are the new features planned for the next releases until March 2024... and there are many!

not so sure, if i'd call them features or if bugfix wouldn't be the more appropriate word for what they're writing there

8 - directional movement, more side-view characters,

Right? Its like they took lessons from every indie dev on how NOT to release a game. Seriously.

Honestly all this flubbing has killed my interest in it. I hope they can turn it around, but for now I'll not be getting it.

in the first place, it looks like a bugged release xD

but that seems to go more to a realy, realy, realy unprofessional marketing champaign

wouldn't be the first time marketing people are only lookign for short-term money and not caring about long-term sales, but all the RM's are set to have at least two or three years of sales instead of the three months that are usual for most games.

I really don't mind if this takes another year or two. This engine was announced way too quickly after the MZ release anyway.

Of course I'd love to see the new engine as much as any other member of this forum, but it would kinda worry me, if there was a new engine out every 2 years. Then even when I buy the engine on the day of release, it would be old news when I finally finish a game with it.

but what troubles me, are their constant delays ... 2022 -> end 2022 -> 2023 -> sometimes in the beginning of april -> postponed indeffinitly -> 2 weaks later: oh, and we'll release it in two days -> postponed indeffinitly xD

makes planning, on what engine to actually use kinda tedious ...

It's actually quite common. Marketing people's job is to figure out how to best push out a product, while programmers is to make sure the product is functional, and both often clash.
