So, will MV ever get the promised features?

I dont know if anyone remembers this https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/oss-rpg-maker-mv-corescript.74616/ but there were a TON of features promised for RPG Maker MV that never came out, and now we've a Paid DLC new version of RPG Maker and no updates on MV in forever.

So... are we left in the shadows like that? Are we expected to pay full price on a "new" engine to MAYBE get the features in the future?

I also would like them to care more. But unfortunately, I don't have hope that this will happen...
The release of MZ makes that very clear to me, as a "new engine".

But still, you can use this core scripts in your projects anyway.

I'm not trying take sides here, I simply don't have enough information to make that sort of judgement call, but I think it's important to use the right words when making an argument so that the things that really matter are what's focused on. From what I can see, what your linking to isn't a list of promises. This was in the feedback section, where they would try things out, not the announcements section. From what I can tell, it's a list of ideals that they were trying for at the time. Obviously, it didn't work out like they hoped, but that's extremely common in software development.

I understand where you're coming from, @peq42_ , but I used MV for quite a while. I've been trying out MZ for a few days and it's IMMEDIATELY obvious to me that it's a MASSIVE improvement over MV.

The changes are not only cosmetic, either. The speed and stability of the program ALONE is, in my opinion, well worth the cost. (As I understand it, they had to rewrite major chunks of the engine itself to achieve this result.) There are a hundred other quality-of-life improvements on top of that.

I know everyone doesn't have an additional $80 to spend, but if you do, my personal opinion is it's well worth the price. They clearly put in a ton of work on it, to the degree that it wouldn't be fair to expect it for free.

pay full price to have a carbon copy thats more stable/fast and has a different animation system? No thanks.

I expect either that MV will get those or, as a costumer who bought MV and VX Ace, I'll probably never buy a RPG Maker ever again

I understand what @peq42_ is talking about. We got MV that has its issues, and then Degica announce MZ. Why buy any product if they don't fix any issues previous products have? It is a matter of trust and it kinda feels like disrespect on anyone who got MV. I can understand your point of view.
Why pay full price for things that could be fixed but instead were implemented as features for a "new" product instead of a free update? He is right you know. I mean it looks like this. It kinda really looks like this, so an official reply that can enlighten us on that matter would be nice here.
I think @peq42_ you are open on hearing any explanation given, am I right?

tbh I highly doubt MV will be updated again. The simple reason is why? We have MZ which is new and fancier why waste time and money on the old outdated model? It's like why spend money making the Wii U run better and have a Wii U XL when the Nintendo Switch is already out.

tbh I prefer MV to MZ because all the upgrade and fixes they did actually lag my computer 30x worse then MV.

To differentiate yourself in a positive way from competition maybe?
How about to show your respect to your clients?

These fixes were not promises, but it would be nice to see MV polished a little more in the future. Not now, but not never either. You know what I'm saying?

Yeah but from a business standpoint it makes no sense. The respect is they updated it to 1.6.1 which wasn't needed. They gave you MZ which "fixed" issues of MV. There is no reason to update an older product anymore. In their minds MZ is the polished MV and you have to pay for all the extra work they did.

They fixed RPG Maker 2003 bugs, did you know that? :)
To be honest here, Degica is the Publisher for the rest of the World. Enterbrain calls the shots here.
So Degica should not be blamed in the first place.
By the waty, you say MZ makes your pc lag, then you call it a polished MV. :p
You should decide what you really prefer! I get confused! :D

You can post all the "passive" aggressive smilies you want. It doesn't change the fact it's been 2years since 1.6.1 I believe, there's a new engine that's better and more improved then this one. So why focus on an older project?
2013 probably only got an update because it was rereleased but I couldn't tell you I wasn't paying attention.

I don't and haven't blamed anyone unlike you did. And MZ doesn't run well for me because my computer was $300 bought at walmart over 5 years ago and isn't good.

I also request mods close this thread. The very nature of it isn't positive and nothing good was gonna come from it.

First off my smilies were not meant to be passive aggressive. Your reply though, is.

I don't and haven't blamed anyone unlike you did.
I never blamed anyone either. What are you talking about?

I was literally confused, I literally asked you to elaborate so I can understand the situation and probably help out because I WAS literally interested in your case. My smiley was a smile of awkwardness, because hey, it was confusing.

Maybe a global mod would help us out here and you might be probably right... or not.

I dont know if anyone remembers this https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/oss-rpg-maker-mv-corescript.74616/ but there were a TON of features promised for RPG Maker MV
Have you even read that topic in detail?
OSS stands for "Open Source Script" or something like that. The forum page you linked even states that these features were supposed to be done BY THE COMMUNITY, with coordination and so being done by some of the Degica and Kadokawa people - but at a guess in their free time and unpaid.

And then most probably there were not enough people from the community interested in working together on that to make it a reality.

I agree that the OSS project should have been communicated better, and it probably would have gotten more help if that was done - but those features were never promised, it is what was planned to be supported when done by the community.

@Andar, zapping you. If we do the difficult things, our games would not go no where since many of us have a problem of finishing the game production.

I agree it is just an achieve.
This project is a project aimed at improving "RPG Maker MV CoreScript" better by the community and supporting many game creators.
It is the community project which the company hopes to happen. OSS allows anyone with knowledge of javascript to modify the scripts.

@Sigony, yeah, I think you have to give the credit to Kadogawa and you can do this:

I always told my DA fans how much I hate slot machines. They're fine in games as a risk-and-reward system. But when you're spending REAL MONEY in a Vegas casino to try and hit the jackpot (which very, very few people will), it can really hurt your budget. Gambling is a bad habit, and I don't like wasting my money on a slim chance. Go to Vegas for the experience, not the jackpot.
