There may not currently be a solution to this problem; I dug around quite a bit and turned up nothing, so here goes.

I'm using @Galv 's Character Frames plugin set (Character animations, Diagonal Movement, and Character Frames) in order to add an idle/walk/run animations to my sprites as well as increase the frames used from 3 > 4. Using the plugins as intended, they work beautifully... but they don't allow for event movement as you can see in the gif below:

The event just kinda glides if you set the starting from to any of the IDLE frames. If you select a walking frame....

....It does this weiiiiiird animation where it's like, toggling between two of my four frames, then freezing on whatever frame it was on when it stopped moving.

I've also tried adding a $ to filename, and while that DOES allow for an animation to occur, it changes the sprite size to 4x what it should be and animates the frames backwards (I think? It looks so weird it's hard to tell):

(Custom movement routes don't change the behavior in either case.)

Now I understand that Galv never intended for these three plugins to be used for event movement, but I was wondering if anyone had found something (a work around solution or another plugin set) that does work. It's kinda weird to have the main actors animated but nothing else. I thought I had remembered someone creating a script that did this for VXAce but I can't seem to find anything for MV.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

Frames and diagonals should work for events (you cannot use $ because of how diagonal works). And you could use one of the frames as a stationary frame to make events stop/stand like default character movement.
The only thing that doesn't work for events with my three plugins is the idle/walk/run, which I only made for player only.

Hmmm I'm not sure what you mean by using one of the frames as a stationary frame. Is that part of a custom move route?

No - it's just like the default 3 frames, one frame is used for stationary position. If I recall it's the first frame for the character position in the charactersheet.

So create a new sheet with 5 frames, one idle and then the 4 for the walk cycle, and name it accordingly?

Yeah. You can use trial and error to see what happens and work out how you should set it up.

What about just changing the event graphic to an idle/stand position when it's not moving?

Of course you won't be able to use the random walking thing, but should be ok if you set the routes yourself.

Changing the graphic works.... but it's kinda hacky. Essentially every time the event stops moving, you have to swap the graphic back to Idle. I ended up having to crank up the frequency to highest as well in order to get the walk cycles fluid.

But well, it works, so I'll take it (even with diagonals). Thanks for helping! :D

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
