Alright so I have the descriptions for Magnify and Amplify and I'm having trouble understanding the difference between the two.

Magnify - If the user performs a skill or item that utilizes element x (or name),increase or decrease its damage by y%. If a skill or item has multiple elements, the rate is increased additively for each element and adjusted multiplicatively with base rate. This bottoms out at 0%.

Amplify
- If the user performs a skill or item that utilizes element x (or name), increase or decrease its damage by y%. If a skill or item has multiple elements, the rate is increased additively for each element and adjusted additively for base rate.

Amplify I understand. If you have three items (Fire damage +15%, Fire damage +10%, and Fire damage +30%) You should have an increase of +55% Fire damage. If you deal 1000 Fire damage, it'll be buffed up to 1550 damage.

Magnify I don't quite understand. So would be be like... 1000 + 15% = 1150, then 1150 + 10% = 1265, then 1265 + 30% = 1645? The description makes it sound like you would still just add it all up to 55% and then... What? I don't understand it.

If a skill has one element, magnify or amplify doesn't matter. It is multiple elements skills where it plays a role. And it influences the base damage, not weapons boosts. Weapons boosts are dealt with in the same manner for both of them.

Let's take an example. An ice golem has 50% resistance vs. Ice and 50% vulnerability to fire. In rates it means 50% ice, 150% fire base damage. Let's say we have a skill that is both fire and ice elements.
Additive base will simply count 50+150/2, so in practice the strength and weakness negate each other.
However, multiplificative base will multiply 150%*50%*/2, which is equivalent to 3/2*/2, so 75%, which means the ice golem still has 25% resistance.
Amplify and magnify are only different in the base damage. They deal with bonus damage (from weapons etc.) the same.

Ahh gotcha. I understand a bit better now. Your math on multiplicative elements is a little bit beyond me, but Additive is more what I'm looking for anyway. Thank you very much, Poryg!

50% = 0.5, in other words 1/2
150% = 1.5, in other words 3/2
1/2 x 3/2 = 3/2
We need to divide this number by number of elements, in other words two.
So 3/2 ÷ 2 = 3/4, in other words 0.75, in other words 75% rate. Simple 8th grade math :D edit: And I made mistake in it xD because 3/2x1/2 = 3/4 :D
But glad it is solved.

It's been a decade and a half (or 3/2 decades, amirite?) since I had to do anything more than 2+2. A bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea. lol
Your last post actually clarifies it a lot. Thank you for that. :D

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
