"Soma, a world once united under the banner of a great ruler, eventually torn apart by its own people by their hatred and distrust for one another. Two great beings appeared to decide the fate of the world. In a great cataclysm, Soma and everything within in it was divided into two, and two guardian spirits would watch over these new realms."

About the Game

Soma Spirits is a choice-driven Role-Playing Game in which players will face heavy dilemmas with a colorful cast of characters. Unlike many games of choice, the decisions you will make in the world of Soma are not so black and white, and characters will undergo different changes depending on how you wish to proceed.

The world of Soma is a land divided into two similar, but distinct versions of one another. At certain locations, you will be able to switch back and forth between the World of Joy and the World of Sorrow and find different inhabitants, monsters, and clues on how to proceed. How you decide to help the people you meet along your journey will determine which of the game’s five outcomes Heart and Soul will find themselves in.

Features

  • Turn-based combat with shifting character roles: Depending on where you are, Heart and Soul’s abilities change!
  • Flexible story paths: you will have multiple opportunities to change the story’s outcome.
  • Dynamic music: As you shift between the two worlds, so will the music!
  • Fully original audio and visual assets.

New and Updated for Steam!

Soma Spirits: Rebalance builds upon the core Soma Spirits experience and includes various upgrades to the game’s story, visuals, and introduces new challenges and objectives for new and returning players! Including:

  • Expanded story elements with new scenes and character interactions to enjoy.
  • Rebalanced combat with multiple difficulty levels. New Easy mode will allow you to enjoy the story at your leisure, while Hero mode will test your mettle!
  • Numerous visual upgrades; remastered sprites, reworked maps, UI upgrades, and more.
  • A new postgame dungeon with unique challenges and new boss encounters to face.
  • A reworked and streamlined intro sequence.

I was wondering if one of the things you were considering doing in the rebalancing was giving the player the option to turn off the bleeps that accompany the text?  I'm sure that some will be fine with it as it is, but equally, I'm sure that there will be others for whom it would become an irritation.  Given the choice, I know that I would turn it off.

Hmm, well I was intending to implement a slightly lower-pitched sound effect that would be less irritating, since even I found the current one a bit grating after a while. I'll consider having an option to turn it off, too.

:)

Also! The game has been officially greenlit! Expect more soon!

I don't think that a slightly lower-pitched sound is really going to make it non-irritating for those who don't want it, though obviously it would be an improvement.  I know that a couple of games on this site did make it optional; the trouble is I can't remember now which ones or how it was done, but I know that at least one of them was made with Ace.  If you don't want to make it optional, would you consider lowering the volume so that it was less intrusive?

And congrats on getting greenlit.

@Mettool Definitely looking forward to this, after playing Soma Spirits the first time.

Gonna get this when it's on steam. The story was brilliant, the gameplay was magnificent, the graphics were excellent! Of course I'm looking forward to this, hope you have great success!

Probably going to go with Hero Mode, though I'm not sure yet. Also looking forward to that dungeon.

Hoping great success to you Mettool!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
