Hey, I have a couple questions about the image tilesets.

I posted this first question on Reddit, but I figured I'd ask again here... I'm new to the program so I don't fully know how to use it properly, but I wanted to use a certain mix of Tilesets on a map (and I did figure out how to change them) only problem is that there is only Tiles A-E... Is there anyway to increase that, either natively or through a plug-in? (though I never suggested plug-in as a solution on Reddit, just thought of it while writing this post) Since I could use so much more than I have in this image.

Though if I can't extend past A-E (and that's what the Reddit user told me) they mentioned I could just mix a tileset, which raises a another question for me... Is there a maximum tileset size I for the engine? Just wanna know if I do go down that route (if I can't go past A-E).

Also something partially related. I'm looking through this guide, but I might be missing something... How can I edit the density of a tile since I'm able to walk through fences, when I shouldn't?

Edit: My version is from Steam (I forgot to mention this initially).

There is a maximum size for each tileset, and that depends on the slot you're going to use it in. Each slot also has a specific purpose and format (some are autotiles, some autotiles take 4 tiles, some take 6, some are animated and take up to 18). Easiest way to see is to look at the help file (F1, under Resource Specifications) for the descriptions, and look at the RTP tiles for examples.

You can have one tileset per map, with up to 7 slots. But each map can have a different tileset. So your limitation on number of tiles is for a single map.

Your other question is not related at all, and should go in its own thread. If you're walking through fences, you've either got the passage settings on your tileset messed up, you have an O for passage on the first B tile instead of a star (this is only possible with older versions of MV), you have drawn over it with a B-E tile that has no image but a O passage setting, or you've turned on THROUGH for the player via an event command. If you can't figure it out, go ahead and post a new thread and say which of these things you've checked.

I'll add a bit of background info to this.

As said above, tilesheets have fixed sizes, and that is for a good reason. A larger tileset requires more RAM for every map to be stored, even if the tiles are never used. That caused a lot of problems with the older RMXP that was the last version that allowed unlimited tilesets.

Instead of that, the engine switched to the use of themed tilesets per map. Each of your maps can have a different tileset, allowing you to construct that tileset of only those tiles you use on that specific map. That way the size limit of the tilesets doesn't matter, because you can use any image program to exchange a tile that isn't used with a different one that you need.

That said, there are different types of tiles - from regular tiles 48x48 pixel over wall tiles of 96x96 pixels up to automated autotiles of 288x144 tiles. On any of the six different tilesheet formats (A1 to A5 and B-E as the sixth format) you can only replace a tile with anotherr of the same type, and every tilesheet needs to go into a slot that it is formatted for (which means the only sheets that could be used in different slots are the four B-E formatted sheets).

Ah okay, I guess (instead of making my own tileset) I'll just break my map into other smaller maps then... Interesting that used to be a feature (wonder if it will return in the future?).

Ah I might have messed up the settings somewhere then because I didn't know what the X and O's meant... I thought they were for hiding tilesets at first, but maybe I accidentally toggled something I didn't mean to. I eventually realized it, and changed them, but didn't notice it get fixed.
If I can't figure it out then in a few days I'll make a new thread (with a video) of that problem.

A video won't be necessary - we know what "walking through something" means, and we know the things that can cause it. All you can do is check them one by one to see which one you've managed to do.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
