Spirit Legends takes place at a time when the world changes and is placed in great peril. An event takes place that grants all animals greater intelligence and reduces all humans to bumbling idiots. A small group of animals know that the world is in danger and take it upon themselves to save the world. They must travel the world to learn from those who came before them, learn great new abilities, and do all they can to change the world back to how it was.

Spirit Legends is a traditional RPG that began being created back in 1997 by my friend Kurt and myself. We were 10 at the time and we wanted to write a video game that featured all of our past and present pets. We wrote the entire game and then eventually it was lost over the years of not thinking about it. About 15 years later Kurt and I starting talking about it again, but were unable to find where it was saved anywhere. So, we tried our best to remember what we had wrote and filling in the blanks as best we could. Slowly over about a year's time I put little bits of time into making our childhood game. I hope anybody who plays will enjoy it. Thanks!

About 5-8 hours to complete the game

10 playable animal characters (cats and dogs)

Lots of random video game, movie, and television references

A game that was created to pay homage to all the great 16-bit jRPGs. It uses simple, turn-based game play and clever dialogue as the heroes go on their journey. It generally takes anywhere between 5-8 hours to complete the game. A great number of video game and movie references are littered throughout and should be appreciated by those who catch them. A simple and fun game that was 16 years in the making...

Tips:
• You can save at any point and any time, so make sure to save frequently. Just don't save in the wrong spot and get yourself stuck.
• Take advantage of the recently placed markers that are placed before boss battles. They can heal you and you should probably take that time to save too.
• Talk to everyone in town. Sometimes they will have little tips, but more importantly, I wrote all of it so you better enjoy what they have to say!
• There may be some mistakes, either in programming, grammar/spelling, or anything else. If you find something wrong then let me know so I can fix it.
• If you are finding the game too easy, too hard, parts too annoying, or just have any general thoughts on the game, let me know that too; I would love to hear the feed-back.

Thanks for trying out the game and I hope you enjoy it!

Here is a youtube playlist (9 parts) of a commentary free play through if anybody either either playing and gets stuck, or just wants to see what the game is like:

I must try this game out now, if for no other reason than because I've often considered making a game based on my own animals in the past but never got around to doing it.

You should and then let me know what you think of it; I always like to hear some feedback.  The idea of using my own animals is really from my friend and 10 year old me, so I suppose they deserve the credit for the original creativity haha.

Also, KD Games did a RMS (Shout out) on his youtube page a few days back. He plays through the first little bit of the game (almost to the first boss) and gives his thoughts. The sound is a out of sync, but I still appreciate him doing it.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
