I want to make a scene where there is a magic show, and the entire room darkens except for the magician up on the stage. Is there any way to tint the screen to be darker and leave a select circle or light in a specific place?

Use show picture with a picture that is mostly black and only transparent at those areas you still want to be visible.

Is there a picture like that in MV already or would I have to find one?

There are plugins for lighting effects that might do the trick. Otherwise, you'd have to create your own picture.

Just open up GIMP or Photoshop, make a new image at 816x624 size, transparent background, then fill it all with black. Then use the eraser tool on certain areas to get your image!

The player isn't but it would be possible to turn the player invisible underneath the event.
Good idea. That might be the best way.

I don't have Photoshop or GIMP so i'll get the plugin. I have one like it where it makes the screen pitch black except for the players light so this will help when its darker than day but not pitch black.

GIMP is free, but the plugin is probably better.

Paint.net is also a great alternative to Photoshop and it's free

That's true, but I use GIMP, which is free, all the time for my resources, and it works really well. (See my signature.)

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
