Rock on, been waiting for this! Think we can get a option menu entry, just in case it takes too much of a toll on a player's computer with all the shadows about?

I don't think shadows will cause severe performance issue because it doesn't need complex calculation like 3D shadow.

But let's see what I can do on that. ;)

Oh okay, I'm not sure if it does that much, but I remember it being a really bad hit on performance on RMXP if you had like a lot of light sources and shadows on a map. MV is a lot more powerful, but it still may need to update 20+ dynamic shadows for one room if there's a lot of light sources in it, you know? But you're the one scripting it I guess x)

    This is great.

But it must be better if you can choose which Event will has shadow all not.

@cdaz: I thought I've added notetag so some characters won't have shadows @_@

Ah, it's on my personal project. I'll add this later.

Something you could try for the future, I'm not sure what renders the shadow but you could have it stretch or move based upon certrain features.  Being able to set it to move with a day/night system may be nice.  You can set relative distance and angle based upon variables.

You can event this. Make an event on each map that will be the "sun" that emits light and changes position with the time or day/night cycle.

Awesome script! I'm using it in my project right now but one big bummer is that every event gets a shadow. So fires and lanterns that are supposed to be lit now have shadows beneath them. Are you planning on adding a toggle per event? Something that I could use to turn off shadows for specific events.

I don't know anything about scripting so I'm sorry if this sounds stupid!

EDIT: I saw that cdaz already asked this question. Whoops.

Is there a way to disable and re enable the shadow following you? If say, you have a character who jumps in spot, it looks awkward with the shadow flying up with him instead of staying on the floor. Prime A+ script otherwise.

You are my hero! This is a great script. The only thing I wish to know is, how do you disable shadows on certain events that shouldn't even cast a shadow? Otherwise its awesome!

Great script still missing the possibility to have events that don't make use of the shadow, it's okay for stones, people and things like that but its derply not okay when using a bird for example, it's looks like flying 30cm above the ground :D

Did you ever get a chance to add the choice to turn off the shadow in certain events...  my doors and wall lamps have shadows, not right.

Really cool and neat plugin which adds a lot to the game! I noticed one thing tho is the lack of customization in the plugin. For example I have characters whose sprites are blown up to 10x the normal size yet the plugin assumes sprite is 48x48 with NO way to change it. I'd be super grateful if you were to add such a feature where the shadow size can be adjusted in a note tag.

It would seem he has not been on in a while. I wonder if anyone else who can code could modify it to implement the much needed features if he doesn't respond soon?

I'd like to point out that this does not do what I thought it did.

I thought it projected actual shadows of events that you added with a notetag... it just puts a little circle underneath every single event.

If you want shadows under your characters like that it is probably better to just edit it in in photoshop so you have a bit more control.

There was a shadow script for RMXP that you could set a light source, and you could set individual events and actors (even train actors) that had shadows and it drew a bitmap of their sprite, just totally black, and projected it at the angle that the light source was in conjunction to them. Pretty nifty, that's what I thought this did.

That's why it's good to have screenshots with your plugins, I suppose....

Script Mod - Hide Shadow For Existing Events

Hey guys, I added a quick fix to this script. If you mark anywhere in an event's notes "noshadow", a shadow will not be rendered for that event.

    This is the updated script:
