Maybe it's because I grew up in the 56k era, but when I release a game, I'm always trying to get the file size as small as possible without sacrificing quality. I also make largely custom games, so I prefer to make the files not require the RTP. One thing that has always bugged me is the fact it seems mandatory to include the VL-Gothic font, even if you never use it! Is there a way around this that I'm just missing? I wouldn't care if the font was <100kbs like your typical font, but this thing is almost 4 megs. It's almost half the filesize in some of my releases!

I know, this is probably impossible and it's only 4 megs. Get over it.

you can change the default fonts of the game by scripting, either by renaming them in the default scripts or by adding a script that replaces the default fonts (some of the advanced messaging scripts do this)

But even if you do that (which I've done), if you do not include VL-Gothic.ttf in the project folder, the game will crash immediately. Unless there's a better spot to change it than the first line in main.

Don't worry! It bugged me a bit too.. I tried to work around it but ended up just including it anyway.. Since I use image layers now, 4 megs is not really a big deal so.. I think my project is around 90mb at the moment, and I'm sure it will end at 2-300+ (in which 4 megs doesn't really matter).
