In my old game, I used the Star Message System. It was quite lovely. I
hate the way the default system looks. Now that I'm updating the game to Ace, I can't find it anywhere. Well,
since I decided to make my game commercial, I thought it best to have the script redone from scratch for commercial purposes.
This is what it looked like:
Please note: This is an old map not from the commercial version. I only used it to show the old message script.

I would be super grateful if someone could write a fairly simple message system script to look like this one. I will give credit, of course, in the game's final credits.
Some of the features I would like the script to have is:
► Ability to use faces or not use faces (just like the default)
► Name tag above speech bubble (where it says "girl" in image above)
►
[OPTIONAL] Ability to switch between talk bubble stem(top above) and the thought bubble stem (bottom above)
► Hanging talk bubble (same, but with No stem--like someone is talking off screen). Would be very helpful.
►
[OPTIONAL] Ability to (if needed) tell the speech bubble whether to appear above or below the character. Sometimes, it would switch back and forth during gameplay depending on how long the sentence was, and that was annoying and confusing.
► Can insert icons into the text (like an item or weapon icon).
► Pause text progression / Can control when you can go to the next text (this was part of a different script. I liked the feature because it was very useful for moments when sound accompanies certain text and you don't want the user to speed through the text before the sound plays. This is also useful if using voice actors whose voices accompany the text).
Of course, I would still like to use the default system if needed. If I remember correctly, the Star system called the speech bubble by putting this tag in the text:

-1 was the player,
0 was the event the text was attached to, and any other number was the events on the page. For instance,
3 = event 3 was the one speaking. I'm not sure what the settings would be for thought bubble or off screen talking. Maybe
-2 and
-3? I don't know.
