game is beautiful. the cave was spectacular and the tower dungeon was well-made.

the bird boss is giving me a VERY HARD TIME though and i don't think it should be as hard as it is. its attacks are just TOO POWERFUL (i'm forced to do nothing but heal and revive my guys every turn and then he just does an attack that kills them all at once or freezes them and then kills them. i'm on the defensive the entire time doing nothing but healing and reviving until he kills us all). he doesn't seem to be particularly weak to any element either—fire, lightning, and earth all seem to do about the same amount of damage against it. i died like 6 times and it's making me not want to continue playing the game.

Ahah Lorel gave me the **** the first times because I was adamant about not using items in battle.

Scary Mask and Child's Cornet are lifesavers in that battle. Don't be afraid to use them, they're not consumable.

I don't have those. where were they? I explored everywhere.

EDIT: unless they were in the cave—which I wanted to explore more but I couldn't because the unexpected cutscene transported me to the tower dungeon and i couldn't go back.

I don't remember the exact NPCs, but those items were given by some children in Sabine.

Okay, this game looks really pretty so far, but...

The footprints in the snow are kinda creepy, y'know. It's fair enough with the ones that merely fade away after you've passed, but the ones that appear while you're standing still? Errmmm... very nice touch. :D

I spoke to everybody in Sabine—unless everything was different after the **** in the castle. That's really annoying.

If I can't beat the boss without those optional items, I guess I'm done with this game then. There's no way to backtrack and get them. Sad, because it's so beautiful and I was really enjoying it!

@needles Ouch that's too bad :x

Lorel is definitely beatable without those items, I did beat her that way because I was afraid of consuming them, but perhaps you're a bit underleveled. Here's the guide if you're still willing to give it a chance http://starstealingprince.wordpress.com/guides/boss-guides/lorel/

@warpmind: I thought those were phantoms' footprints but apprarently it's just a glitch! Or is it?

yeah I'm on the right level—my characters are all level 5 and I have all the right equipment. I typically don't run from or avoid any battles so I can avoid the need to grind.

kinda lame that optional items are so necessary—it'd make sense if there was a way to go back and get them, but this is a MASSIVE turnoff. i guess that's that then.

This game is amazing and inspring, Ronove. I think that it very cool how exploration can help so much.

It's great that the battles require strategy!

I'm now at the end of Chapter 5, in front of the boss which even at Level 17 is incredibly irritating. :\

Anyways, I am amazed at what you did with this game. The mapping is beautiful, the dialogue is entertaining, informative, and believable, and so far there looks to have been very little rushed content.

I also really like the sense of constant mystery that drives the plot forward, too.

I'd say my favorite enemy so far would have to be the Bob ghost.

As a side note, I'd be willing to assist you in puzzle-making for your future dungeons if you're interested. (Check out Third Realm for my resume. :p )

@needles: sorry; you can get the items after the boss if you missed them from your people. So they aren't gone forever.

In addition, Lorel is very beatable on level five even if you don't use the cornet or the mask (I just tested this). While you may have a few close calls, it's actually not hard. Lorel can be put to sleep! Give Hiante the equipment to put him to sleep. Start the battle with Snowe using Flame I and Astra throwing up a barrier relic and have Hiante attack. Chances are, Snowe's going down if he does a blizzard, but after one blizzard, Hiante can put Lorel to sleep and then have Astra use a revive herb on Snowe. Then when everyone is nice and healthy, have Snowe use Flame I on the bird, have Astra use Swift Strike and have Hiante defend. Then do the same thing next round, but have Hiante put Lorel to sleep (if he has enough IP, if he doesn't, just have him defend until he's hammered enough) and it also doesn't hurt to have Hiante use his Flame Strike if you're confident a blizzard won't kill you outright.
But hey, if you can't beat him, I can give you a save file right after him (it just might take me a bit because I've been working a lot). Or if it really did turn you off the game, sorry about that and thanks for playing.

@Warpmind: Totally a glitch, but it works in my favor. I fixed it once, did other stuff, they started showing back up. So I said, screw it, they are phantoms, their bodies disappear when you kill them, but their footprints don't! *evil ghost sounds*

@Mihel: Thanks for trying to help while I was away! :) What makes you think Lorel is a she however? I'm genuinely curious!

@lhsorak: The Bob ghost is my favorite too. He makes you dance. What exactly are you having trouble with that boss? Can you give me more information so I can help you further (as I've assumed you've tried the guide way, right?).

Although I agree that the bosses in this game can be very challenging, I do want to point out how great it is that they are actually susceptible to status effects. So many games give their bosses complete status immunity, which is super annoying. I loved being able to significantly weaken bosses for a change. Especially inflicting Wet and then striking with lightning attacks. >8D

Got it Ronove.

I followed the guide more closely. Sandstorm really came in handy.

Nice guide. :)

I do my best! If any guide clearly isn't working for you personally, just let me know and I can see if I can think of an alternate strategy! :)

Pssssh, I'm so bad-ass, I didn't need the guide... because I didn't know it was there. Oh, I got very frustrated at some points, but I like Dark Souls and Ninja Gaiden, so I'm disappointed that it wasn't harder. You need to add difficulty levels or something in Yellow Line, Ronny. I DEMAND HARDER! *roars*

I managed to find most of the items as well apart from a few spell tomes and I missed Heroes and Villains, which I'm so annoyed about. Reading the reviews on RMN, everyone says they only managed to get Astra's, so when I got the other 2 I was all like, "Yeah, I'm gonna do this first time! Man, this is easy. Those guys must suck!" and then I go ahead and miss one. You win that round, Ronny but when Yellow Line finally comes out,I'm gonna 100% that ***** like it's no-body's business.

It can be poisoned too, that's the only way I beat it since I didn't have Flame I.

@needles: Like Euphony said: use status effects. Lorel can be put to sleep, burned, and poisoned. Later on when I stop giving you sleep for instance, bosses can't be put to sleep. So if for whatever reason you HAVE something that can add a status effect to someone (at least via your IP skills), there's a good chance the boss can be afflicted with it (like blind, silence, and poison). So remember to try out stuff to figure out what works! And when you get Relenia, using any of her water based skills and following up with a lightning attack = wonderful for bosses I felt would be too easy if you could stun them normally.

@AstoXx: I think Hiante's gets missed because you have to go through a hidden passage to get to it. Though I'm really curious how many people were able to get Snowe's without a guide (which I would add you to that list I see!) since his has the most convoluted way of getting it.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
