Hello Everyone,

How would one be able to start a conversation/event with the actor talking without making the Player stop his/her movement? Also is it possible to do this by pressing a button to activate the event? Such as whenever the Player would pass an area and then it would say "Press A to start Conversation." The closest example to this would be in the game PrinPrin Another Story, a game created using RPG Maker.

Thanks for the Help!

Without stopping the player movement, or the event movement? To keep the player moving, just do a Set Move Route first and uncheck the Wait box. They should keep walking while the text box is showing.

The other could be achieved by an event set to Player Touch with Below Characters priority with no graphic.

What I meant is without stopping the player movement for example the Player is in control of his/her movement while the event is going on.

This script is not bad but is there any other way I can do this without the use of script?

no, because by default, when a message window is open, input is disabled.

I remember reading about a "trick" in RPG Maker where you can use a parallel process with a loop to trick the game into letting the player move while messages are shown.

Any idea what I might be talking about?

Well, if you are only doing this at certain times, why not just create a "fog" that would be your dialog, and walk around just like you do under scenery?

Yes, I do remember that trick, though I wasn't sure if it was for messages or for something else. I thought of it after I'd shut down and wondered if it would work.

@OP, to try, put the messages into a parallel process event that turns itself off (via a new page and a self switch, not via erasing) after the messages have been shown.

GrandmaDeb's suggestion could also be incorporated by using Show Picture to show the dialogue rather than a fog (which would need a fog script). Downside is they're harder to edit and would increase the file size of your game download.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
