Starting from absolute zero, is it possible?

Unrelated, should things like Rules of war matter in a game like Armymen?

  • Yes, I think it builds contrast between the sides.

  • No, I do not think this does anything but clutter the Game.

  • No, it is too complex, I like simplicity.

Greetings Forumites, I had a thought (No oddly enough it did not hurt.), is it possible to start a actor's level from zero?

Possible. It just displays matter. Just need a script that patches the level display from 1 to 0. Technically it's level 1 but displayed as 0.
Also for the poll, I think it deserves its own thread.

technically yes - as said above you'll need a script to change the engine, but it can be done.

However, that does not automatically make this a good idea - it depends on what exactly you want to do.
Usually "level 0" is either associated with civilians or with adventurers that have not yet started their training.
So it would fit if you have some form of prologue, and if the actor/player selects their class during or after that prologue.

If they start out as adventurers and keep their class from the beginning until much later this would have no real effect or impact at all and would be more likely to confuse players exactly because it is normal to start at L1 for adventurers.

TLDR explanation: you can't make an actor's level 0 because the formula for XP depends on it, and it would return you negative or decimal XP.

you should always override the displayed "actor.level" with "actor.level - 1"

Good insight on the Poll, I will do that.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
