I found another thread with a related problem, but it didn't have the exact answer I was looking for, so I'm posting this topic.
I'm making a boss that has a special skill called "Miracle" which has a 80% chance of inflicting the boss with one of four random beneficial effects (Anticipate (Increased evasion), Magic Reflect, HP Regeneration, and Haste (speed increase)) as well as a 20% chance of inflicting a negative status condition called Slip (essentially a fatal, faster variant of poison.) on the party. I'm using a common event for the skill's behavior. The skill appears to work as intended, however, the "State applied" message never shows, so the player does not ever know which beneficial state was applied until it either wears off or its effects are triggered. (Which is quite annoying.)
Is there a way to make it so that the "State applied" message shows up when using the common event?
Here's a screenshot of my event if it helps (NOTE: The boss has a companion during the battle which does not benefit from the effects of Miracle, so that's why "entire troop" is not selected for the beneficial effects.):
