On a PC at the moment, installed Steam and RPG Maker VX Ace.

However, When I try to load the project, RPG Maker Closes down and I can't open it back up!

Edit:

I will try give a little more information.

Basically I have steam on my home PC, Girlfriends laptop and Work PC.

Installed RPG Maker VX Ace on home Pc yesterday, uploaded my project to 'the cloud'.

Installed RPG Maker VX Ace from steam on my GFs laptop, loaded the project with no issues at all.

Came into work today, installed RPG Maker VX Ace on PC, software boots up, but when trying to load my project, it thinks about it for a few seconds, then just completely closes down VX Ace, (I can reload Ace but it does it every time I load my project)

My projects size is 184MB in size.

I do have the RTP installed on my PC already

Location; C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterbrain\RGSS3\RPGVXAce

Not sure what I need to be doing to sort this?

any insight, as usual is very much appreciated!

Cheers!

Firewall not letting it through, maybe?

Shouldn't be at work, I have unfiltered access through the network (we are an outsourced IT department) so we don't restrict ourselves ^.^.

Going to be gutted if I can't play it at work though, it's where I get a lot of my mapping done!!

Steam autostarts on each computer it's installed on, but allows the games to be played only one at a time.

Is it possible that one of the other computers is running at the same time and steam blocks the access to prevent it from running twice? Especially if there are connection problems with the internet?

Another possibility:

Cloud access usually needs different ports compared to regular internet. Try if you can make a local project and work on that. If yes, the problem is not in the maker or in the regular internet access, but that the firewall is set to restrict cloud access for security reasons. Something you might have set and then forgotten because its rarely used.

Ahh, I may have not shut down my others half's laptop and it could still be running on there.

I can load a local project, so it must be either blocking it from here or the fact my project is still up and loaded on her machine.

cheers for the help, will have to check on this when I get back tonight!]

Edit:

Is there any cap on what you can put on the steam cloud (size wise)?

EDITEDIT:

I just got an error message : Steam Client Bootstrapper stopped responding

EditEditEdit:

Just tested and can upload and load 2 projects I have just created and edited (works a treat) just seems to be this one?

Is there a limit on the cloud services or something?

but it wouldnt explain why it works on other machines.

I don't think that you can hit cloud limits that fast, so there are three possibilities:

1) the game is running on the other machine with that project loaded

2) the cloud synch from the other machine was not complete when you last worked there (happens sometimes due to internet glitches, then it needs to be updated from the other side first)

3) cloud synch from your current machine is slower than usual (or again, that steam cloud glitch that prevents a complete synch sometimes, then you need to give steam more time) - the local projects are already there but steam needs more time to synch the other project from the cloud to your machine.

You can't work your project on the cloud directly, it always needs to be completely downloaded to the local drive.

You know what, I think it's #2!

As I loaded it up on my gfs laptop, to test, it worked and I shut it down while it was synchronising! (what a muppet I am).

I think I may need to re-upload it from my home PC and then make sure it fully synchs before switching stuff off!

Or possibly boot up my other halves laptop to make sure everything synchs up ( I made a couple changes so it might have caused the spanner in the works)

Cheers :)

Edit:

Nope after sorting everything out, letting everything synch and stuff, stilll doesn't work with 1 project.

Welp this sucks! - might just have to move back over to the client

Ediiiit:

Also my project is showing on this pc when in manage projects in ( )

So rather than it being  Legends of Elsaria its (legends of elsaria)

Last Edit:

Its finally worked, not sure why but it has!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
