Recently I’ve been made aware of EasyRPG and I’ve known about the Maniac patch before, although I can’t say I really know *exactly* what the Maniac patch offers or how well it works.

But as somone who’s looking to make a game in the official STEAM version of RM2K3 in 2021, and hopefully release this game commercially (on STEAM… and maybe other platforms too?), what kind of engine “version” should I develop in? What are the pro’s and cons when comparing the two?
Can EasyRPG work with the maniac patch, or do I need to pick one over the other? Which one have YOU picked for your game (and why?).

I figured it might be a hassle if I changed my mind further into development so better gather the knowleadge and make a decision now.

I've just installed it a few days ago. I haven't used it much yet. From what I understand Maniacs Patch doesn't work with EasyRPG, but they might be working on changing that. Here's the last page of the rpgmaker.net thread about Maniacs, apparently last month it had a huge update: https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/24260/?p=5#posts

And here's a video of a custom menu that was made with Maniacs:
In my limited time with it, I'm going with Maniacs. I just wish there was a little more info out there on it.

It seems I'll be leaning into the Maniacs patch then. I recently got recommended it from another source as well.

EasyRPG might only be the better choice if one wants multi-platform porting possibilities (although, I'm not quite sure how well that works)? And well, EasyRPG is also super simple to apply so I guess it got that going for itself too.

Sometimes a mechanic that is meant to add challenge is just annoying. Even the Final Fantasy games did not completely escape this pitfall of design. (FF8 draw system I'm looking at you - grrrr)
starting working on the sprites for one of my games major antagonists finally. here's the first frame of his chanting motion in battle.
Have spent too much time hammering out with a friend just how to make a reoccurring enemy that permanently learns skills you use against her.
I know what I want in a loose sense. Maybe I should just make a post asking for opinions and suggestions.
