Hi All

With RPG Maker I have always used the client version, looking to use it on steam as I use steam a lot more now.

Are there any bonus' / negative's of using steam over client and vice versa?

Thanks! :)

Plus: The Steam Version has the "manage project" screen (used for cloud control and a few other things) and a few additional updates.

Negative: you cannot doubleclick to load a project, you have to use either open project or manage project to load a different project (automatically opens last project).

Cloud synchronisation also requires you to name the projects differently - two projects with the same name in different folders might be automatically synchronised against your wishes.

Half/half: Steam Cloud synchronisation will lag the editor on opening, save and so on unless you have a good internet connection. For most people this is a problem as it will slow down their work speed - but it depends on your internet speed.

Also, I think you cannot open more than 1 maker using the steam version.

you can, but only by right-clicking the open maker's tab in the taskbar. Steam will block the regular way of opening another maker. like it blocks the doubleclick-was of opening project files.

Cool thanks, well for steam is there any way to share demos / 'test releases' to your friends on steam?

by placing them in the steam workshop you can make your demo available to anyone who has the steam version of Ace.

For people who don't have that program, you still need to make the demo file by "Compress Game Data" and upload it somewhere (Dropbox for example) and share the link to it. That is the same as with the standalone version, the steam workshop is an added option.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
