You can see it clearer in this picture you just need to trace a line to the top ridge from the bottom

If I had access to more then paint I would have just made the edit softer and not as pixelated of a line but this is pretty close.

Yes, I understood what you meant and I appreciate the heads up.

But as I said, top down perspective doesn't exist in real life. So we have a little bit of leeway on how we handle perspective.

I'm not too concerned if an angle is a little off. If it were a jarringly bad thing and something that could potentially ruin the whole set and make it unusable, I'd be fixing it in a flash. Since you're the first person to bring it up, I don't get the feeling that's the case here. So, unless it's super duper imperative to everyone to shave off a few pixels off the side, I'll leave that part to the people using the set. :)

Being that it is a parallax tileset and it's such an easy fix with any graphics program. I don't see any need to fix the set itself. The pre-made buildings might be able to use a touch-up, but if anyone is able to use these sets, they'd be able to make the roofs work themselves too.

And as someone who has done roofing and construction most of his life, there are plenty of structural impossibilities in every map and tileset I've seen (and used). While it's nice for things to look realistic, sometimes aesthetics matter more.

Also, the roof you used in the example would technically work, depending on the pitch of the front viewing roof. I have put roofs on where the gable didn't extend all the way to roof's edge. It happens when the main roof is a steeper pitch than the gable.

Agreed tpasmall the change I made just adjusts it so the valley between the two angles of roof looks more seemless... technically there would prolly be a visible runner patching the two angles of tiles in the valley too but yeah not gonna mess with that in paint! lol!

I do alot of 3d rendering and my brain works in 3d so it's more noticable to myself then to others I guess.

Still the tilesets are very beautiful you have alot of skill this is just a suggestion for improvement I can find no flaws other then what I pointed out. You should be VERY proud it's great work!

Thank you, it's appreciated.

I didn't want to get too technical, but ... If you have the same pitch (i.e. slope), but eaves are at different heights, you would get the result you see in our tiles. If you had different pitches (slopes), but eaves at the same height, you would get your result. Both are possible. :3

If people are concerned about it, well, there's nothing stopping them from building a house themselves and fixing it

The presets were mainly as example houses, though a lot of people seem to be using them as a lazy way of mapping.

These are absolutely beautiful! I am just starting out with RPG Maker VX Ace and I think this is the tileset I will use! Now I just need to learn what Parallax Coding/Mapping is :D

Parallax mapping basically means painting your maps using a software program. It takes some work, but the end results can be very impressive.

I'll look into it! I'm sure that this forum has Parallax tutorials...right?

These are some of the best graphics I have seen for game creation. If these don't easily fit into Rpgmaker, then what do they fit into?

My understanding parallax mapping is based on 45 degree angle. That's what they look like to me. It seems a lot of effort to convert them into rpgmaker.

Parallax mapping in VX/Ace is basically just using an art program to create a map and importing it into RPGMaker as a Parallax. No angles are involved, really. :)

You can also use them as regular tiles, but you would need to arrange them into tilesets yourself.

Lunarea and Celianna, this is awesome :)

I really like the feel of steampunk in your tilesets, I definitely like the clock tower.

The interior is awesome as well, like the bed in purple cover. It's very detailed.

Those are truly stunning. Wow. Great job!

I don't know how to do this parallax mapping in Ace (I heart you need scripts for that and those are a little confusing ^_^ ), so I'm currently trying to fit some of the graphics in tilesets. If thats okay with you guys. Just for personal use. I like building little towns :)

Just two scripts, really, and they're pretty simple to use, but I can understand it's not for everyone.

There's just no simple way for Celianna and I to make a completely inclusive tileset. It's much simpler to let you all pick and choose which pieces you want to use and how you want to use them. So, you're welcome to make your own sets for personal use. :)

I can't imagine how much we'd have to throw away, or edit to make fit if we made this into a tileset. We've made so much, it replaces the entire RTP and adds more ... 'cept for organic stuff.

But yeah, editing for personal use is completely fine!

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
