It's going to be pretty time consuming setting all of these up haha. These are very good though, great job.

These tiles are amazing. Thanks for sharing them!

But, could I ask a question? How do I download them?

If I save the images to my computer, when I try to open them, it says that the files are corrupted.

Thank you, and sorry if my english is bad :)

I believe that might be because I've seen these tiles in a commercial game .. Skyborn I think it's called (I could be wrong about this) But I think they might have been commissioned with an exclusive commercial license or something.

    Just my suspicion.

It's a shame because I would also use them in a heartbeat lol.

This is why commercial is not allowed - some pieces are edits of VX RTP.

Woah I panicked there for a second .. I thought you meant that you can't edit rtp resources yourself for commercial games. I'm fairly dayum sure I've asked that question before I started making that game and got told that I could ..

You mean that Celiana and Lunarea can't SELL licenses .. because they are RTP edits right XD?

But if they can't sell the license .. why not just open it up for free commercial use as long as you have the license to use VX rtp. It just seems mean spirited to say no when they can't make any money of it themselves.

No, you can edit them for your own personal use, even if that is a commercial use. But you cannot make money off of them by then selling the edits as a package, which includes selling a commercial license for the edits.

I'm pretty sure you can use edits of RTP material in your commercial game as long as you own a license for the engine those assets came from. However, you cannot sell those edited assets to other people.

Thanks for the confirmation my heart stopped for a minute there. Hours and hours of recoloring and overlay work would have been rendered moot if that was the case XD.

Stuff like this took a while XD

    Wait, I'm confused.
First you had to buy a commercial license to use these in RPG Maker. Now you don't.
Does this mean you CAN'T use them in a commercial game, even if you own VX RTP?

    @BCj You're missing a step here

You can edit the RTP and use the edits in a commercial game without problems.
You can also edit the RTP and give the edits away for free to use in a project, no matter if commercial or not.
What you cannot do is sell edits for use in another project, no matter whether that project is commercial or not.

And there was probably some mixup earlier with these resources that made it easier to simply forbid commercial use than to un-tangle the mess for this specific case.
But other edits have been allowed free use for commercial projects, this is a special case where the artists don't want the edits used in commercial projects. Because that is always the decision of the artist, to allow or deny commercial use on edits he/she did.

So basically what you are saying is the artists took a bunch of licensing money .. then someone caught onto the fact that these are edits and they realised if they released these edits as free for commercial use the artists would have to refund everyone who already bought licenses .. So they decided to just lock them up for commercial use instead.

If so I honestly don't know what to think of these twe. I mean .. I appreciate that a LOT of work went into these assets. And the artists probably wanted to get something out of it. But .. I can't help but feel that a lot of commercial games would be better with these tiles. If the artists didn't keep the license money I honestly can't see any reason to deny commercial use.

Of course it's their legal right. But It's also mine and anyone else's legal right to think less of them because of it.

Oh holy cow. Seriously? No, that is NOT how it happened. Lunarea is Degica paid staff and Celianna has been a moderator here since the beginning of the forums. They both know full well what they are allowed to do and what they are not and therefore have never charged for commercial license for these tiles.

Okay, my apologies. I just don't think, knowing Lunarea and Celianna, it's as devious as the previous poster is making it out to be. That they only stopped because they got caught so to speak.

I'd still like some sort of explanation as to why they stopped selling the licences though. Since I was pretty interested in getting one.
