When I first heard a song by Nickolas Wolfe I was impressed by his musical skills and I instantly knew he was the perfect fit for the sound I was looking for Eniko: Ghosts Of Grace. The song I first heard was later used in Doirosz Arena in the game. For the launch of the demo version of Eniko next week, Nickolas made a new version of this very meaningful song for the game and I'm glad to share it with everyone now!

My next post will contain the exact date for the release of the demo :)

I am happy to announce that a date for the release of the demo on Steam has been decided: On may 26th at 18:00 GMT, the demo will be available for download! One week later, on june 2nd, the demo will also be available on other platforms such as Itch.io and other supported platforms.

What began as a personal lockdown-project has grown into a indie game project that I'm working on with heart and soul and the help of very talented, coders, musicians and artists. Eniko: Ghosts Of Grace is a game i started building for myself, but it could never have become the indie game it is now without the help, support and feedback from you: the player.

Now it is time for the game to take the next step and become a publicly available and playable product. I'm looking forward to your experiences and feedback! I hope I can provide to you a slice of that unique 90's rpg gaming experience mixed with fresh elements and a gripping world and story.

In this demo version, the emphasis lies on exploring Belrynna and the Woodlands Of Yarle. You can find hidden areas and piece together the world's lore while completing sidequests. Complete three (major or minor) sidequests and you'll be allowed to fight the Behemoth in the Arena, the final boss in this demo!



Can't wait to watch you enjoy it! Most of all, I can't wait to hear your impressions of the story, lore, dialogues and battle system!

Thanks @ShadowDragon! All the game crashing bugs and big bugs should be fixed but there will be smaller bugs and things to improve for sure. PS: Itch.io release is one week after Steam release.

I know, but also, im good in squashing bugs :p so I can spot them if there
is a walking on to squash.

Tried the demo out. Didn't play it fully, because I had a crash (in the city) when I hadn't saved for 15 mins, but here are some thoughts:

The visual style is nice! Makes it fun to look at. And I liked the lively feeling towns. Can't say much about the story yet, but at least it was enough to pull you in :D Not the biggest fan of RPG Maker ABS-systems, but at least the enemies' special skills presented some challenge and made it more fun than simply some poor man's old school Zelda clone.

I made a list of all the problems I noticed up to the point I played. Maybe you're already aware of most of these, but here goes:

SPELLING:

-"A perfect lunge! That fAul beast..."
-"...The game will autosave in a sepErate slot at predefined moments."
-some NPCs used 'exalted' and some 'exhalted'
-guy in the yard says "watching these guys fight makes me worried that i'll do good...", should probably say that he won't fare very well
-in the mansion, the guy who is organizing the library says "gargantuesque" - shouldn't it be "gargantuan" in English?
-Male Grace says "unprecented", should probably be "unprecedented"
-Bulky traveler: "I'm actually lookING for someone..." "lend me A hand" // "...think of yourself as A trustworthy person." + other errors after that in the tutorial and dialogue

GRAPHICAL GLITCHES:

-if the follower boy came into the same tile as i was (if i jumped against a wall for example), his hair was on top of the girl sprite (in some locations / zooms at least)
-in the crypt at the top of the stairs I could walk inside the statues at the right side
-in the crypt stairs i could walk on top of npcs head
-big trees' roots were drawn on top of the player sprite (city park and woods)
-when jumping in front of big tree in the woods, the player clips through it
-sides of the quest board were drawn on top of the player sprite
-you could walk on top of one of the bottom side beds in the dormitory
-you could walk on top of the iron bars in the game
-you could walk through the horse carriage
-you could walk throught the upper side of the big tree, north east part of the yard
-south east corner of the woods, a tree at the bottom of the screen seems to be floating
-you could jump on top of some trees in the woods (maybe that's intentional?)
-at least once in the woods the grass you could cut didn't spawn its graphics (but you could still cut it)
-you can jump through the doors in the inn at Belryna

OTHER:

-Sometimes when using an action (slash, jump, special) the game flashed the whole spritesheet
-Could get out of bounds in beginning arena fight (left side at least)
-Sprinting didn't deplete stamina(?)
-Character didn't turn to face enemy when casting a spell if I was facing another direction when choosing the target of spell.
-At least sometimes when you slash with the sword, it could hit the enemy even when the enemy wasn't in front of you
-Enemies respawn after visiting the "teachings menu". Also once after visiting there my character sprite turned transparent and stayed that way.
-Game soft locked multiple times when it showed me the quest menu with the bulky traveler (maybe had something to do with clicking the action button instead of cancel, not sure)
-When the creator appeared to tell about the hookshot, multiple lines of dialogue went outside the dialogue box borders
(-Was I supposed to be able to interact with the rune stone in the shrine?)
-There was also at least one item where the descriptive text went outside the text box
-In Belryna a lot of the NPCs have their text vanishing outside the box borders

Thank you very much for this valuable feedback @rpgLord69 !

Most of these things will be fixed in the next version, a couple are intentional. One thing I would like to have a screenshot of is the lines of dialogue that went outside the box borders. I have never come across that issue and no beta tester mentioned it either, so I'll have to investigate that further!

This is exactly the stuff I needed, so thank you very much again! :)

That's super weird as it never happened to anyone yet. Maybe it's better to answer through DM now, but could you let me know if you are playing on Windows or Mac etc. Time to investigate!

@gRaViJa the text cutting off is also I see often on playtests.
which I dont get entirely as well, if they uses a word-wrap plugin
or is included.

sometimes it is ignored somehow, and on self testing on test and small
deployed, its 50/50 mostly.

most people test deployed as well, as it can be on the windows version,
sometimes plugin higher or lower helps, but not always.

I dont know the exact cause of that as well or how it happends.
and while it mostly 50/50, you could wait if more people report it
for safety.

Thx for the info @ShadowDragon Like you said, I'm going to see if more people report it and then decide how to tackle it. Seems rare though.

I forgot to mention that it might happen much more if you updated
the NWJS version from 29 to idk what version.

as some plugins might break or is ignored in the way they structured it.
I cannot get a better version working somehow for a weird error.

but that might be a cause as well.
in case you update it, you could look into that for what causing it,
otherwise, wait to see how many people got it and write down
the number who got it.

if you didn't enter the text and rely to much on word wrap, that
can cause problems too, IF it isn't ignored at least.

I wait till itch version to play around, keep up the good work ^^

I did upgrade the nw.js version, so that might affect it. If more people have this issue, I'll look if I should downgrade again.

downgrade isn't needed really, maybe a small modification to the plugin
could do the trick as well, but I see if I got the same when I can play the demo.

I am supposed to be preparing to teach my students this afternoon and tomorrow morning about Refugees, Asylees, and Fraud/Misrepresentation and all I can think about is how to improve my Turn Order display. :stickytongue:

In the end I choose near over shoulder resembles RE4. Tight close window better. The correlation between battleback, monster style and battler should also be observed and merged.
Upgraded my avatar to be cuter.
