I own a version of VX Ace on Steam. I wanted to write some Ruby-Code in the editor, but the Editor does not recognise the @-symbol. When I press Alt Gr + q (which is the @-symbol on german keyboard-layout) it prints: #~. The @ is very essential in the Ruby programming language. I can copy and paste the character from the source code which is already written in the file or copy and paste it from every other file/programm on my PC. And I can use @ anywhere else in the RPG Maker without problems.

Yes, Alt+Q comments out whatever code is selected or where the cursor.  No way around it, that I know of, but perhaps another German user may know for sure.  For US keyboards, @ is Alt+2.  Hope that helps, even if just as a workaround for now.

Shift + 2, not Alt :)

Shaz, they're using a German keyboard, their @ is mapped on another key, and requires the Alt gr key to type. Shift + 2 is only for standard qwerty keyboards, not qwertz.

Unfortunately, there's no solution for this. You can however, install another language/keyboard to your windows, and simply swap when you're scripting. I recommend Dutch, due to still being able to type éáúíó öäëüï ß etc.

I was replying to djDarkX, who said @ on a US keyboard is Alt+2. It's not.

There's another way to get the @ on the German keyboard.

Simply hold the key Alt pressed and the insert number 64 at the number block. The @ appears when you unhand the key Alt.

Man kann über den Nummernblock, während man alt gedrückt hält die Zahl 64 tippen und es erscheint das gewünschte Zeichen.

The problem has been solved already, and it's much easier - just switch Ace to the German Version on Steam.

Right-click on the program name in the steam library, go to the tab "Sprache" (or language) and change that to "Deutsch" (you should have watched the blog for the language announcement here, it was a few days ago;-))

http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/announcements/french-spanish-and-german-oh-my/

That will change everything (including database content when starting a new project) but Help file and script comments to German, and it will also remap the comment key to make the comment only on Ctrl-Q, not on both Ctrl-Q and Alt Gr-Q, so that in the German version, Alt Gr-Q will revert back to @.

I don't know if the standalone version here is multilanguage yet, it might be that it still takes a while (as the German variant of the product page here still lists only english as a language) before they replace that file.

Thanks for the information. I accidentically have the steam version.^^

By the way, I read this blogpost. But I didn't know how to change the language.

Vielen Dank nochmal.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
