Strange movement glitch

In my project, I made a cutscene, and halfway through, the character randomly turned and walked towards a wall. I can provide screenshots if it would help.

Check your move route, and if theres nothing in there that looks wrong. Pictures may help.

Here are the screenshots of the event. About 4-5 steps into the event, he randomly turns down and walks until he hits the bottom of the screen.

well, you didn't set the first to wait, so both of those two move routes will run at "same time"

Oh, that makes sense. What I was trying to do was make 3 people make at the same time, so I turned the waiting off. I had deleted the other two move patterns to try and fix it. How can I make three people move simultaneously?

Use no wait move route, but make sure that they are for 3 different events...

now if you need different "sets" of routes

do something like

Move Event1 (no wait)

Move Event2 (no wait)

Move Event3 (no wait)

Add Wait here (maybe equal to how long the longest move route above will take)

Move Event1 (no wait)

Move Event2 (no wait)

Move Event3 (no wait)

and so on

alternatively, make Event3 the one with the longest move route and set it to wait so that the next move routes won't process until Event3 finishes moving...

Okay, if you can help me, I have another problem. In a subsequent cutscene, the player (controlled through event) randomly turns, goes up one tile, then turns in the right direction. It's not a problem of forgetting to make it wait between moves.

because once again your move routes are all being played on the player. Look at the dropdown box when editing the moveroute to select the target. It's currently set to the player, which is why they are oving and not whatever event you want to be moving. you can also see the target in the first line of the moveroutes in your screenshots: "Set Move Route: Player (wait)"

No, I want the player to move, but in a straight line, instead of taking a 1-tile detour.

I'd look to see what other events you have that are also set to autorun or parallel process.


You MUST be telling it, somewhere, to move in that direction.

especially if it's a correction of the post, just edit it and do not double post.

I do have an autorun event to move the player, but A) It doesnt have any vertical movement until the end and B) The switch that activates it is disabled at the end of the event.
Then either you still have another event that moves the player, or something changes the switch that you do not remember.


Whenever something like this happens, we tell the poster to check all events for an forgotten move command - and they always come back reporting that they found such a thing.


If the player moves, then there is a command or event where you did order the player to move - it doesn't matter if you have forgotten about it, it does exist and you just have to check ALL events and ALL pages in them (and the common events and in sometimes even the scripts) until you have found the cause of the movement.

Sorry about that. Anyway, I can't figure out the problem, so I just moved the player 1 tile down to start, and it's not perfect, but it works. This is as solved as it'll ever be.

I've checked all the events I can find, and it's not that crucial of a project, anyway. You can lock the thread.

Could be a script you've added, or a common event, or an event you THINK is working, but it's got a move route on the wrong target and you're just not seeing it.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
