Okay I have encountered a very weird bug.

I've been a user of RPG maker for a long time, I used VXA for years but switched to MV when it launched. I have been using a new computer for a while now and installed RPGM so I could play around with it since I haven't toyed with it in a long time.

After I installed it and launched, I noticed that the borders of the window are the incorrect size for the UI of the application, like so:

(bottom panel cut off by bottom of window)

(file menu completely cut off, top of first row of icons cut off).

This extends to all pop-up windows as well, and happens no matter what the window size is, or if it is maximized or not. The cursor also highlights icons in a different place from where it displays (so an icon will highlight as if I have moused over it when the mouse is just near it, not actually touching it), which says to me that the program THINKS it's displaying correctly, but somehow the actual image is rendered slightly too big. I can provide more screenshots if that would be helpful.

Puzzlingly, VX Ace displays and functions normally, I installed it just to see.

Things that I have tried that have not helped:

- Resizing screen resolutions, changing to only one monitor (I use two normally)
- Verifying file integrity in Steam
- Re-installing the program
- Reverting to an old version of the program
- Waiting a few weeks because a new version was coming out
- Googling common display bugs
- Sacrificing innocents to elder deities

I'm extremely puzzled. Let me know if there is any further information I can provide that will help in diagnosing this problem and I will post it up. Thanks for your time.

I think this is probably better in Technical Support.

I've got the same problem.
Has anyone managed to fix it yet?
I'm using latest Windows10 build and a freshly installed RPG Maker MV.

Am I allowed to bump this? It's a really debilitating problem.

EDIT: Okay, sheesh. I have failed to solve the problem, but at least I know a bit more about it, so I'm going to leave this in case someone else comes here from a search and wants to know which levers to pull.

The issue is caused by high-DPI monitors past a resolution of 1080p. I gather that RPG Maker has never been exactly wonderful at dealing with scaling stuff (there are scattered reports of similar problems in more or less all of the modern releases) but the 1.6+ patch has been causing it . . . more. Past that it seems to be uncertain exactly why it happens to some computers and not to others, it appears to pop up sometimes in one system and not in another that has the same high-DPI resolution and settings.

Past this point, there are a number of levers that can be pulled that can fix the problem. There doesn't seem to be an understood common variable, so you will have to just fiddle with it until it scales properly. I've seen some people manage to fix it by just messing around with the resolution and scaling of their main monitor, but the number of anguished replies in those threads seems to say that it's unusual.

In Windows, right click on the RPGMV.exe file in the main application folder, and go to Properties. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab. First order of business is to see if changing the compatibility mode will help, try Win8 and Win7, this seems to work for some people. If that does not work for you, there should be a button to disable or otherwise affect high-DPI settings at the bottom. Hit absolutely every option under this in every combination you can think of until something works. I really wish you luck until this gets sorted out, hopefully in the next update.

As for me, I have a burner PC I started up again, and I'll just use that for RPGMV stuff alone for now.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
