RPG Maker Forums

Okay I have encountered a very weird bug.

I've been a user of RPG maker for a long time, I used VXA for years but switched to MV when it launched. I have been using a new computer for a while now and installed RPGM so I could play around with it since I haven't toyed with it in a long time.

After I installed it and launched, I noticed that the borders of the window are the incorrect size for the UI of the application, like so:

(bottom panel cut off by bottom of window)

(file menu completely cut off, top of first row of icons cut off).

This extends to all pop-up windows as well, and happens no matter what the window size is, or if it is maximized or not. The cursor also highlights icons in a different place from where it displays (so an icon will highlight as if I have moused over it when the mouse is just near it, not actually touching it), which says to me that the program THINKS it's displaying correctly, but somehow the actual image is rendered slightly too big. I can provide more screenshots if that would be helpful.

Puzzlingly, VX Ace displays and functions normally, I installed it just to see.

Things that I have tried that have not helped:

- Resizing screen resolutions, changing to only one monitor (I use two normally)
- Verifying file integrity in Steam
- Re-installing the program
- Reverting to an old version of the program
- Waiting a few weeks because a new version was coming out
- Googling common display bugs
- Sacrificing innocents to elder deities

I'm extremely puzzled. Let me know if there is any further information I can provide that will help in diagnosing this problem and I will post it up. Thanks for your time.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
