[Suggestion] Roleplay Sub-Forum?

So, I was just thinking about all the past RP-ish events that occur from time to time on the site. I am, of course, referring to things such as the demon hunting forum minigame, the ill-fated Save Ralph RP.....

I was just wondering if it's even possibly in the cards for a subforum to be set up for smaller RPs. I see that there are a lot of users on here who already have their own set up personas and skill sets and other such things. It would be nice to be able to RP and play around with those such things on here, without having to do it within the strict confines of whatever it is that one of the admins decides to do.

Again, i'm not trying to suggest that the official RP/contesty bits get moved. Just saying, it would be nice for some of the regular members who have enough ideas to set up an RP of their own.

I'm seconding this. I have had a good bit of fun so far bantering around in this event, and wish we could keep the fires burning once it's over.

A dedicated space for this could be awesome, as a gathering point for budding forum GMs and RPers. Of course, RPing would probably need to be done in group PMs to avoid ending all over the shop with people hijacking some already started RP sessions.

If you think this bantering has been fun, you should have been around when the Save Ralph RP was going on. It was a blast. Well, until it shriveled up and died, that is.

This forum has a rule against forum games, and general roleplay would count against that.


Events need to be confirmed and checked by Degica, a user can't run events on his/her own.


Sorry, but you have to remember that this is a company board which has to conform to corporate law and Degica is simply too small to allow user-controlled events without supervision and guarantee that all laws are kept.

Either that, or I completely don't get what exactly classifies as a "forum game".

Yes, it was. Archeia did that event and she is Degica staff. As is Lunarea, who is running this event.

It's been stated many times, for many reasons, user-started roleplay and games aren't allowed here. If you really want to do that in an RM community, you might check out other RM forums that allow it.

I'd be wasting my time looking elsewhere. I have a deep feeling in my gut that a sizable portion, if not a large portion of the RPG Maker Web Forum community mostly goes to this site, if not exclusively this site. I know I do.

I'll probably just leave the PM box open for trying to set something up on Skype or something.

If you have a good idea for a game event, then you can propose one to the forum staff - approved user events have happened in the past.


Degica just can't allow someone to start an event without a fallback plan for the case that the user vanishes on the participants.


The better you're known in the community and the better you planned out your event idea, the higher is the chance that you get approval.


However, don't bother at this moment - the MV craze has to die down and the problems have to be solved before Degica can consider any additional events...

Er.....i'm not disagreeing with you, but I just feel it's worth pointing out that that a lack of participation is what killed the last actual RP.

That's not a bad idea! I do apologize for any disappointment, but we don't find any need to open up an RP sub-forum ever. There's a ton of nooks in the internet for that sort of thing.

Though the whole RP is great and the current event is very fun to participate and talk with people - I think too many RP games and generally forum games would create a big spam, that's why things need to be approved first, because actually someone has to watch for it (mods would have an additional work).

This is really fun, but it creates a lot of spam if that would be not controlled.

+ now forum explodes because of MV - new thread is created every ten minutes, so I don't think any more games would be approved now, considering, that there is even running one RP-event at the moment.

At least that's what I think, but that does not mean it has to be right.

Regardless, I think that a meeting place to make plans via PM, whether it be on actual group PM or on Skype, or something, would be good. Official(by that, I mean a thread made by one of the staff members/admins/ect ect ect), or unofficial. It'll still be there when the MV hype dies out.

EDIT: Perhaps meeting place is the wrong word. More like an advertisement...

You could check on Rpgmaker.net, I hear they're more lax about that kind of stuff. I've seen some pretty crazy threads there, too.

Maybe. The thing is......I look around enough forums without adding an extra one just for roleplaying, alone. Also, I want to try my hand with roleplaying with the members in THIS forum : D I might not find the same people there.

Knowing my luck, the crossover members won't be ones i'm familiar with.

Either way, I won't be doing this immediately, currently my IRL situation is very close to imploding. No need to re-reiterate how much the main suggestion isn't happening, though.
