Hey guys, I'll be working on the next Time Fantasy pack soon. If you have suggestions for the next pack, share them with me here.

Lots of people have mentioned battlers, so the next pack will have a focus on monsters and battlers. What kinds of sprites do you want to see for battles? What monster types are important?

Also, I was thinking about making them animated for side-view battle systems. But that depends -- it would take a lot more time, and I don't know how many people use those types of battle systems. Input from you guys would be appreciated on the subject.

I'll list some of the things that I have planned for future expansions. Good suggestions will be added to the list.

  • Battlers (see above)
  • Monster Sprites
  • Snow Tiles
  • -- Snowy Forest/Mountain
  • -- Snow Village
  • -- Ice Cavern Dungeon
  • Jail / Prison Interior

I would probably not do battlers at all, but instead make one attack animation for the monster sprites (preferable for every four direction).

I would prefer less sprites if it would mean that they have attack animations. Just my opinion about that matter.

Yeah, Monster sprites would be most important. I would go for the classical:

bat - orc - scorpion - wolf - bear - skeleton - ghost - imp - rat , maybe look up an old D&D book or something like that, just classical fantasy monsters ^_^ I think that would fit Time Fantasy the best.

The spritesheets with animated switches, spikes, levels, traps etc. sounds cool, too.

I would prefer multiple types of skills for each battler than one attack pose honestly (even if it meant even less monsters).  

I love the idea, but how would human battlers be dealt with?  Each having only one weapon would limit creativity wouldn't it?

Well, of course multiple attack forms are great, but animations costs a lot of time, so even one attack form would be a great bonus in my eyes.

I haven't used the original set (my personal preference is for graphics that are as sharp and modern as possible, even though your sets looks very nice and true to the traditional style), so I might be mentioning things you've already done or are out of theme.  Still, suggestions never hurt, right?

  • Tile/Tileset Suggestions:Coastal/Marine Tiles
  • Urban/Futuristic Tiles (for games like Earthbound)
  • Magical, Glowing objects on B/C tilesets
  • Seasonal-based variations of some of your most popular tiles
[*]10-15 sets of Animation Cels
  • Plus fully constructed Animations if you're good at them
[*]A few "throwback"-style windowskins to fit the mood of your other graphics
  • Plus a few throwback-style fonts that are in the creative commons or public domain
As far as sideview battles go, there is a sizable minority of people using them, but the majority of Ace games (even commercial or otherwise highly-polished ones) still use the standard front view.  Normally I'd recommend just going frontview for the battlers, and adding some more actor and monster *character sprites* that people could also use in a sideview if they really want to.  But for a throwback type of pack... I dunno, a lot of people really liked the sideview FF-type systems back in the day.  You could make a large set of sideview battlers into a separate mini-pack of its own, maybe?

Maybe trap things like trapdoor, needle wall, arrows. I find these materials are difficult to get.

Have you ever though of adding some racial diversity to orcs?  Don't want you to be racist. :p

I want to make a abs with these resources bad.

More monsters in my opinion would be more fantasy creatures like Demons.

I will definitely be buying this next pack. I'm working on a hobby project when I get tired of working on my commercial one and it's using Chrono Trigger style battle system... so monster sprites with a simple attack animation are perfect.

Right.  Those are absolutely adorable.  Hope to see kobolds (Wolf people used in previous versions of the maker) too.
