Uncheck 'move animation', then check 'stop animation' and 'direction fix.'  I'm on xp but I assume it'll be something similar...

Please use meaningful titles for your threads. Thank you.

The solution is the same in Ace. You don't have to uncheck the 'walk anim' - that only comes into play if you are making your event actually move, and for a fire, that wouldn't likely be the case.

Checking the Stepping Animation box will animate things like fire, smoke, and water spouts etc...

this will make your fire look like its animated.

for ace the way I got it to work was to place new event. select the graphic you wanted. then check walking animation and stepping animation. set event  to auto run. that worked for any fire graphic/ water/ smoke graphic I found etc.

you don't want to set the event to Auto Run, because it will stop everything on the map including player control. just check Stepping Animation and it will look animated.

Autorun is only useful if your event actually has commands to be run. Other than that, as ultimagicka said, it will stop your player from moving. So don't use it unless you NEED to (and you don't need to, just to animate an event)

auto runs can move (as in set move route) other events and have others "run" their contents, but player control is disabled so the player can't move or interact with anything. auto runs are good for makeing cutscenes and other event things that need to be done before the player is allowed to do or change anything. such as setting variables and switches before the game starts.

The OP has not been back since, but the very first response gave the correct steps, so I'm going to assume the problem is solved.
