My wife and my start-up studio, Royal Decay, is seeking possibly permanent members for game-making and other entertainment endeavors. If you're looking to form a dedicated team making fun products, don't hesitate to give me a PM or reply here.

Now onto the first team-wide project ((outside of my wife and my pet projects we also will publish through RD)).

Super Senpai
This simulation/RPG hybrid is also a little parody of the Super Sentai series ((otherwise known as Power Rangers in the US)).

Rule the school!

You, player-named Senpai, have been elected as Student Movement President by the student base of the largest school in the city. Rad, right? But wait. You have no clue why you're so popular and aren't sure where to start. Never fear! There's the Core, a group of colorful characters that will be the meat of your council. Play it fair and give the students what they ask for, or go your own path. Life's full of surprises. And cafeteria hash. 

Save the world!

Also, you and your Student Movement are superheroes that wear nifty spandex in almost every color of the MnMs and take on evil as it crushes your city over and over again. Doesn't sound too familiar, right? But it sounds really cool. Too bad you won't be getting dino zords or weapons that not even a skilled ninja would sneeze at. Your elements come from your academics! Math, English, History, Science and more. It's not a snore, trust me. And 'dem homeworld-invading aliens could be taught a lesson, in both senses of the saying!

Planned  Features

* Sandbox-style gameplay. Create your character, from their look to their hobbies and shape their story and personality throughout the game. Don't worry! You'll always be Senpai, no matter what decisions you make.

* Choose who does what as the Student Movement President and gain influence to help turn the school's extracurricular activities and academic processes into something you dream up. Glitzy or beach-themed prom? Starting up an anime club? Carwash and bake sale fundraiser? Stricter detention rules ((Say it ain't so))! Customize to create the ultimate High School experience for the student body.

* Find love, friendships, and rivalries as you forge relationships with your Core members who are both your Student Movement members and your fighting squad!

* Flex your spandex... Muscle! Take part in intense on-foot and on-"zord" battles to save the city, and the world, from evil and probably goofy extraterrestrial forces.

* Multiple endings to shift replay value into turbo. Get in gear! ((The Rangers did not endorse this less-than-clever usage of their morphing commands.))
Crowdfunding//Donations?



This project will gather funding from a source//some sources to be determined by the team. That means while no up-front pay is present in forming this team, we do plan to make some cash by putting out something quality. Whether this be by Kickstarter or donations or even going commercial in the end, I do plan to make a little profit. And this is only the first project. There will be full commercial projects ((for sure)) in the future, even if this one doesn't make the cut.
Positions Available

Which leads me to the point of this thread! To start a team that creates games and more. Here are the current positions available and what they entail for the Super Senpai project. Remember that while game-only members are acceptable, those who are looking to make a permanent studio with us will take priority.

You may apply for more than one position! Yes! That is encouraged as long as you will work at it.



* Director//Overseer ((1/1)) - myself
I will be dipping my hand in just about every aspect of this game, except maybe programming. I will list myself in my more major roles below. But do expect me to help with everything. It's what a dedicated director does, mh?

* Character Design and Sketch Artist ((1/1)) - china d0ll ((with myself))
The character designer and sketch artist will have a distinct manga-style that is refreshing and unique. They will design the characters and sketch all busts//portraits//and in game scenes requiring group and or action shots of the characters. Line-art and coloring not required as I will fill that role UNLESS specifically requested by the chosen artist.

* Background and Prop Conceptual Design ((0/1)) - OPEN!​
The background and prop artist will be responsible for working conceptual paintings for objects, vehicles, and environments. Some of these will be used to directly design the sprites in-game and for promotional materials and other times the pieces will actually be used in-game, in the CGs as collab with the Character Artist and I for example.​

* Sound and Music Design ((1/1)) - myself
Note: If someone is really interested in joining this team as a permanent "in-house" sound designer and musician, I will happily hand over the role to provide them the experience of working with the team. I have other music obligations to fulfill, but I will be taking this role unless someone really wants at the job. I'm looking for a modern//sci-fi sound with some blazing guitar and perhaps a little bit of symphonic or orchestral in the mix.

* Character Sprite and Animation ((2/2)) - myself, dawnhunter
Character spriting and animation, especially for the custom animations, will be a hefty job. I will partly fulfill this role and I'd be very welcome to anyone who wants to join me. We can discuss the style of the character sprites and come up with something together that fits our tilesets//maps. This job does require extra character animations. We're looking for quality, even if simple.

* Tile and Object Spriter//Animator ((1/2)) - OPEN! managora
There will be custom tiles and animations to be made. If you like working from some concepts or have some brilliant ideas and animations in mind to make the game world come to life, step up to the role. You'll be making individual tiles, objects, and their animations for the mapper(s) to put together. The style should remain consistent.​

* Mapper ((2/2)) - tentacurlz, MJFenners
And you are the ones who will take the tiles and objects and put them together into our maps. Parallaxing is involved as we want to create something stunning. If you like to work with fogs, overlays, and visual effects, this is where you'll apply too. Please have a little experience in mapping, or be willing to learn.

* Game Mechanics Designer and Planner ((3/3)) - myself, my wife, clazier
This is pretty much an open role, with us three as the lead. Any ideas coming in from members will be processed by us and the best ones picked and implemented.

* Plot Writer ((2/2)) - my wife, clazier
However, the dialogue writer below will probably have a major part in this as well.

* Eventer ((1/1)) - dawnhunter
You are the one who makes it all come together. You should have ample experience in RPG Maker, especially MV, and know the ins and outs of eventing. I will be helping, but most of the work will fall to your hands. You're a crucial part of the team because without you all of this stuff would be just loose stuff. And that's no fun at all.

* Dialogue Writer ((1/1)) - rpgn00b
So you have the plot, and maybe you've helped with the outline and flow of events too, but your main role is to write all of the actual dialogue ((text the player will actually see)) in the game. This is perhaps one of the biggest and hardest roles when penning an RPG//Sim because there are many dialogue options and everything must flow smoothly. I'm looking for someone who can put the plot into action and add their own sense of humor. Knowing a little of Super Sentai//Power Rangers is a major plus because we'llbe poking some fun at tropes from this series. If writing is your 'thing' this could be the perfect opportunity to start with a team that will give you plenty of work for years to come.

* Programmer ((1/1 or 2)) - Liquidize
This is the ONLY part of development that I can't actually help in, so I need a LEADER here. Someone who is experienced and can make an idea come to fruition. I either want one largely loyal programmer ready to break out the action ((This person will probably also help in planning the mechanics)) or a pair of programmers who can work in unison. If script and plug in writing is your passion, there's a place for you on our team.​

* Promotional Material Manager - my wife and myself
Although input from the team is encouraged. This takes care of advertisements and trailers. Anything to get hype for the game, and we'd be honored if anyone with some web development experience would join to help us put a website in place once we near completion of our project.

Work Expectancy



This team will be close and relaxed. But members are required to work on the project despite the relaxed setting. If you have no intention of following through with this team, or are already riddled in doubt, you need not apply. Serious applicants only.
As a team we have our own forum with sections dedicated to each project we pursue. Most correspondence will take place there, as Skype and timezones rarely work out and we welcome anyone from any timezone. However, I will provide my Skype to any members and we may share. Just know that team correspondence will mostly be happening on a forum where information can be stored and read by anyone at any time.

Hi I'm interested in being the Dialogue Writer.

I want to let you know a few things about me before I get started.

My name is Sean, and I love writing! It has been a huge hobby of mine ever since I was a little kid. I have a great sense of humor (I was always a class clown throughout Elementary and Jr. High), but aside from that I know when I need to be serious.

I am very laid back, I am nice and helpful, I'm a likable person, and I love working with others. (Although this is my first time working on a team for this type of thing.)

This game seems like it will be really fun to work on and I would love to see my work in something like this.

Could benefit from someone to help conceptualize environments, props, the mecha-like vehicles, and the like - as well as another tile sprite artist. This is our biggest concern as we need concepts to the pipeline of art.

 I'm only looking for an extra programmer IF they want to be a permanent part of Royal Decay now. We have someone helping with this particular game. 

And as a thanks for all of the interest, have some rough and early conceptual sketches for the Ruby Suit player character.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
