Looking through the Video Game Board, I didn't see any topics on one of my all time favorite game series: SUPER SMASH BROTHERS!
If that's ok, I'd like to start this topic with my experience with the series through my life.
Of course the top part is optional as to have you guys avoid a wall of text. The topic of this thread can start off with these few questions:
Who's your favorite character? Why? How did you start playing him/her?
When did you start playing the game? What game did you start with?
Are you excited for Smash 4 3DS and Wii U?
I'm always up for challenges, I'm not good with Smash 4 on the 3DS after all the years using thegreatest controller of all time Gamecube controller. But I'll play you none the less. Just PM me your friend code on the 3DS and I'll PM you mine.
Ready? GO!

I love this series, first started playing it when Melee came out (used to go play the game off of a friends Gamecube for months until I was able to get one myself). Mained as Dr. Mario and got my butt kicked a lot. It was around the time that Brawl was announced that I started to go even with my friend in Melee.
One of my favorite things to do with my high school friends was to speculate characters being confirmed and debunked on forums. Waking up at 4AM on school days to see the pic of the day that Masahiro Sakurai (Mash Potato Samurai) posted got me through so many of my conversations the last few years in high school. I'll never forget a few conversations we had about Sonic. "There's no way he's getting in the game. The fact that Snake is in is a shock already to most." Then the day came Sonic was announced, I looked at my friend and said. "DUDE." He responded with "I KNOW!" So now that both Sonic and Solid Snake were confirmed to be playable, people speculated so many crazy theories for 3rd party characters. I always hoped for Mega Man, but as you can see - he never made the Brawl cut.
The day Brawl came out, I absolutely loved it. Picked up Olimar and soon enough I was the target to take down around my group of friends. Played it about halfway through college then put it away. Among my group of friends, Brawl wasn't a really fun game like Melee was to them. They believed Brawl lacked a lot of the techniques (Wave Dashing, Dash Dancing, and overall - Melee being a faster game) and that Brawl was a low skill cap game.
It was only around my Junior/Senior year of college where I actually got to play the N64 version. Coming to this game 3rd after playing Melee and Brawl for so long was a real shock. Kirby and Pikachu were my two favorites in this genre. I didn't get much hands on time with Smash 64.
Then 2013 came, and Smash Brothers 4 was announced, and Mega Man was confirmed. HECK YEAH! As a now 25 year old adult, i see that a lot of my older friends have moved on past this game. A core few remain and still play the game, and I've met new friends to play with. To me, smash brothers isn't just a game or a measure of ones skill. It's a way to get to know your next best friend.
