Looking around, I couldn't find anything like this, which was surprising given its simplicity and usefulness.

What I mean by Support Conversation is something that very closely mimics the system in the Fire Emblem games:

   - Essentially, there'd be an additional "Support" option in the menu.

   - Selecting that, there'd be a list of each character in the party. For each party member, it would display the "rank" of that character's relationship with each other character (in the Fire Emblem games, this was generally a letter out of [-, C, B, A, S], but this could be customizable to suit the user's purpose). Usually these options would be grayed-out and nonselectable.

   - After each battle, each pair of characters in the party would get "support points" towards that relationship. After a certain amount of points have been reached a new support conversation would become available for that pairing. The next time the player checks either of those character's Supports, he would see the other character's option is now selectable. The player can now select it to initiate a conversation.

   - A conversation here would be exactly like the default conversations you can make with "Show Text" in events.

   - After the conversation, the "rank" of the relationship would increase.

And here's some pictures to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about:

It's simple enough, but it's pretty vital to what I'm trying to accomplish. Characterization is naturally difficult in JRPG-style games, and support conversations give a lot of room for character development without derailing the plot.

Any sort of help/pointers on how to make this a reality would be appreciated!
