    Hello,

there is a sci fi project I've been working on and, since there was no extensive sci-fi tileset I wanted/needed, I decided to make my own.

What I show here are my own creation using a 3D modelling program called "Blender".
They are already properly formatted to be used.

I will update as I create more stuff for my own needs. I can take requests on color change as it's really easy as just changing letters in Blender and re-render.

Also note that these are designed for taller sprite (2x taller/wider). It may be just too big for regular MV default sprite. But you can shrink it easily. But they are not RTP style.

    Code:
Latest update on Nov 24, 2017

    Indoor stuff tileset updated.
Sci fi building tileset added. (under outdoor stuff)
    Spaceship actor tileset updated.

Terms of Use: They are my creations and therefore I own full rights to them. They are free to use in non-commercial projects but you must not use them in commercial projects.

You MAY NOT redistribute these resources. They are for RPG Maker forums only. Linking is fine.
You CAN edit the resources I've created for your own personal requirements but please do not redistribute them.

Quite interesting style you get there. I like rendering cause I suck at drawing... So I also use Blender, but aim for RTP style.
Just have a couple of things to note.
First, how did you manage to get such even shadow under your space vessel? Did you render it or draw it? My shadows are much thicker and darker (with Cycles render).
Second, did you use perspective camera for your stairs instead of ortho? Cause it looks a bit out of place on flat tiles. I think you would get better effect with ortho camera at 45 degrees vertically. Just wondering :)

I have few years of experience with Blender under my belt but creating RPG maker MV assets with this is new to me and there are improvements to be made in my methods. I realize that.

First of all, the shadow was drawn in GIMP. I rendered it without shadow. Color is simple toon shader while manipulating light sources for shading in some cases.

The ones you see on this thread right now is perspective. The ones I've on my HDD is Ortho now since they are better in the end, so yes, I agree.
My main forte is spaceships though as I've already created several of my own design.

Sorry, not trying to criticize! Just was wondering. I have one year of experience so far. Need to learn a lot yet.
I see... Thought you rendered it without a shadow, cause the shadow should be uneven.
Yup. I render everything with ortho. I set dimensions to be multiples of the number of tiles I want to render. Then I scale the object to fit camera viewpoint. This works nicely for 45 degree view - to get face and top portion in one render.
Keep it up, there are not many rendered resources.

Sorry, shadow was drawn in GIMP. I edited the post.
Rendered source is often frown upon here, so that does not surprise me. Some people dislike 3D objects in 2D games.

Since I believed I would eventually need to create everything for myself, I decided not to stick with RTP style. I started making my own assets for a project I am working on just 3 days ago, so things are scant to display at the moment.

Haha, you use GIMP as well? Blender and GIMP make a nice combo. I actually draw small 48 pixels textures in GIMP for use in Blender.
I think most people use RTP or pixel art, and need similar resources. That's why. I agree though, it can be great in 2D games. I love 2.5D games like Resident Evil, Onimusha, Parasite Eve.
That't gonna be a huge amount of work. Good luck with that! (That's why I am trying to imitate RTP, this way I can mix and match... )

Well, both are open source. Both are very powerful if one's patient enough to get used to them. And most importantly... they are free.

Took me a while to get used to the both of them though. I hated Adobe's new subscription system.
Anyway, updated the first post with a new example pic and updated tileset for indoor_B.

I did not realize the size of the ships until I put together that the screenshot included one of them! =]

I agree that the texture on that ship plating is cool. Would you consider making it into a wall tile?

Nice variety on the ships. Thanks for posting.

What kind of exteriors are you looking for?

A simple alien planet area (a few alien plants or stones and some canyon walls, maybe also some green liquid to replace things like lakes and rivers).
Or maybe a futuristic city, but I am far more inclined towards the planet!
Oh, and something else - where did you get the character in the screenshot?

I don't have any plans for alien environment but alien plants I may already have on my HDD somewhere.

Futuristic tileset is too big of a task actually. And, for the sprite size I use (96 x 96), it becomes too large for regular wall (A4) tileset, so I just use whole building renders.

    saturn_city.jpg

The sprite is from a Japanese circle known as "toranekoya". I think you can find them on dlsite.com. I don't use his sprites anymore though as I am making my own.

Alien environment is actually easy. What you need -
    - A couple of rocks
    - A couple of alien plants
    - A canyon wall
    - One ground tile
I do not really care about futuristic city tileset though.

Here is a tileset I made for another game. It features rocky walls / rocks. This was designed for 96 pixel sprite.

The main problem with your request is that "alien" is very subjective. It really depends on which sci-fi you've read/watched during childhood.

These are good. I think I will edit them in GIMP to make the walls brown (my personal use, of course), and I like the flower and the crystal! When you said that it was designed for 96 pixel sprite, I am not sure exactly what you meant...could it be used well with your other tilesets? And what I meant by "alien" is like the exteriors in this pack - http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/sci-fi-tiles
