Switches Not Working

Hello everyone. I'm new to RPG Maker XP and I'm having some trouble with getting events to activate according to switches.

First, I have a monster on the field that will disappear once it gets the item it wants. Before disappearing, it will turn on a switch in another event. But somehow, this other event doesn't respond to the switch being turned on. Another event from another map activates the Water Spirit switch so that the monster appears after going to this other event on the map.

This is the event code for the monster.

The switch Yesterday being turned on in the Soul Shard 2 event is for another event on another map. I want the button in the Soul Shard 2 event to turn into a crystal after giving the monster what it wants. But for some reason, the Past switch doesn't activate after giving the monster what it wants. It continues to stay as a blue button. I've been working on this for two days and still haven't figured out what went wrong. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

page 3 requires two switches to be on, the switch from the other event and the self-switch B that is set by the second event page.
so you need to have pressed the button of the second event twice before it reacts to the part of the water elemental.

Are you talking about the Soul Shard 2 event? I see that its page 3 has both the switch of the other event and the self switch B on. I just tested it out again. I don't know why it works now when it didn't work before no matter how hard I tried. Thank you very much!

I have another issue with another event issue. I want the NPC to move 4 steps toward the fountain I set up as an event. I want the fountain to spray water after she finishes her steps and have the screen flash red and screen shake as she screams and disappears. It seems my events and switches aren't working.

If anyone could help, it would be great. I don't want to post these same issues as another post. Thank you.

bad ideas.
autonomous movement always loops, you should NOT use it in a cutscene.

Usually cutscenes need a single controlling event, and that event should control all other events remotely.
If you have any command inside the list of commands of any of the events (both fountain and hope), then you've done the cutscene in a wrong way.
Both hope and fountain should only have two empty action button pages, with a general switch controlling which of those pages (fountain on or off etc) is active.
And the controlling event should contain all commands including set movement route (on wait) and all texts and so on in a single page, giving direct control of everything in that scene in the correct order.

I added a controlling event with all the commands and put it on autorun. Somehow, it still doesn't work the way I want it to. It doesn't run automatically when the player gets there. If the player interacts with the fountain first, the fountain will change into its spray form and the Hope event screams and disappears. If the player interacts with the Hope event first, it just disappears.

The Hope event is also set up like the Fountain event only with the Hope switch turned on.

Your problem is again that you split your commands over multiple pages.
Please combine all your commands into a single page and get rid of the page conditions on the later pages of the controlling event.

Why did you even set that condition switch on the second page of the controlling event? that doesn't make any sense there.

It worked halfway. The Hope event didn't disappear after turning on the Hope switch in the controlling event. The fountain also didn't change form when the Fountain switch was turned on in the controlling event. The switches are turned on under condition in the second page of both events.

So, you just want to change graphic of the events? I think Set Move Route command is much easier to work with. If the player will come back to this map later in the game, you can use switches to save your changes to the events. And using switch is not necessary if your player won't come back to this map.

@Yuan Honestly, I'm not sure about that. I think it was because of the Wait for Move's Completion command. This command might affect your Autorun or Parallel Process event sometimes, so you should use Wait command instead (as RPG Maker XP Help says) :kaoswt2:
