RPG Maker Forums

Hi guys,

I've spent about 40 minutes on this forum looking for the answer to this question, to no avail, I have also been on YouTube looking for tutorials, but to no avail.

I have an entire 5 days RPG Maker MV experience behind me - this equates to 5 whole days of RPG Maker experience full stop.

Excuse my lack of terminology, but this is what I would like:

I am not a fan of those - umm.. I suppose I would call them Pokemon battle scenarios.. the cut scene, you know the ones - I press defend, the enemy attack, we take turns etc etc - someone dies - probably me, because I didn't have the magic elf milk spell This is not the type of game I wish to create.

I am more of a Zelda style fan. I press a button and swing a sword. This sword inflicts damage on NPC's. No cut scene, no battle engine. All of this takes place on the ground, in a dungeon, outside the inn, in some old dears house.. you know the drill.

I've worked out how to make NPCs inflict damage on touch - I am happy with the way I have done this, but do you think I know how to kick him back? Nope.

Yes, before you all inform me I will need new sprites etc, I am aware of this.

I cannot find anything about making this type of RPG action in RPG Maker MV.

I was tempted into this as 'even a child could use it' - I'm not a child, I'm willing to do my research etc, but this I cannot find.

Quests and events and switches etc I have managed to pretty much get to grips with in my 5 epic days of RPG Maker, but swinging a sword, firing a bow, things like this, it seems are well beyond me.

I hope my query makes sense to someone out there. A veteran. Someone who has done at least 7 days. I trust you.

Thanks!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
