Overall the game looks good. But if you can afford to commission a set of original characters that will be better. These characters will certainly be overused as time goes by as they are public resource. Commissioning your main characters will certainly put your game in a different spot than the rest of the games here.

Hey there Leon, I understand where you're coming from here. This project was originally made with the fact that I wanted to see what I could accomplish with the RTP, including default characters. That's why I'm currently using them. I have found out, however, that it seems that Sylvant would be much more well received if I put it in different art direction, but keep the same feel to it. That's also why demo v2 hasn't come out yet.


This is just a general question to anyone who reads this post, how do you feel about me changing Sylvant's art style to something more original?

A screenshot as proof that I'm still working hard on this and the demo should literally be out by the end of the week all I have to do is add in some NPCs and fix some dialogue.

Demo v2 has been released for Sylvant and the project is half-way through development. Thus, I'm moving this to the regular Project Development thread. Mods will be free to delete this thread once the other has been posted.

Hey there, I don't mean to be a killjoy, but if the new thread is the same as this one, I think you should request this to be moved instead, as mods have stated before that they don't delete threads for several reasons. Or maybe you could request this thread to be locked and make a new one, but I don't know if it's against the rules or something. Sorry  :rswt:  On another note, good luck on your project  :thumbsup-right:

I've just started testing this one out and have found a few things that slightly annoy me. There are quite a few small shrubs that are impassible, I don't know if it's just me but it's difficult to tell a passable shrub/plant from an impassable until I run into it.


As previously stated somewhere above, I think there are some balancing issues, even before you get your first party member to join, the hornets as a pair can be quite deadly, not to mention the three spider party.


Now I didn't go straight to the other party member, I explored first (which you need to in order to determine where that party member is in the first place) and I think wandering that forest gave me a drinking problem.. Drinking too many potions and antidotes that is :)  And my character is much too young to turn into a lush so early in the game. 


I think you stated that you want the player to go straight to the other party member, but you have to keep in mind that players are gonna play their own way as well. It seems that the player will have to grind quite a bit of levels before moving towards the castle as well, those slimes are quite powerful, as are the group of three rats.. I kinda had to take a break for the time being as I'm not ready to head back to the forest to grind some levels on hornest and spiders.


As far as dialogue the greeter in the first town you come to, has the same conversation with you  every time you talk to him. You know the one where your companion is about to reveal what tribe she is in, but the main character prevents her from doing so, again maybe it's just me but I find it annoying. 


But other than that great use of the RTP from what I've seen so far. Not sure about the story or characters just yet.

Hey there Emeraq, sorry it took awhile to respond. I'll address these fixes in demo update 2.1:


-All foliage will have the same passebility consistency between maps.


-Spawn rate in Meadowbrooke Forest will lowered by 10%


-Spider and Hornet monsters in Meadowbrooke Forest will have their Attack power and Defense lowered.


-Hidden items will show a small sparkle animation on the map.


-Rats in the Old Sylvant Aquaduct will have their Attack power lowered slightly.


-Certain NPC dialouge will be fixed.


-Parallax lighting will be added to all current player accessible maps.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
