I'm working on a sci-fi themed RPG and although I'm no scripter myself, I've kinda got ambitious ideas for it.
I'm hoping someone could make a Tactical Battle System that's similar to Devil Survivor, where, in a typical SRPG fashion, party members
and enemies move around in a tile-based area but when they engage in the combat, it switches to a traditional turn-based system in which
each "character" on the field represents a party of up to three characters who each take a turn. The "battle" ends once everyone's done and
we return to the field.
Does anyone understand what I mean?
What I have in mind for my dream battle system would also include...
- Agility stat determining how many tiles a character can move per turn (Although that's a given).
- A stamina system that limits how many moves a player can make per turn. Every action - moving, attacking, using items, abilities, etc. - consumes Stamina which gradually recovers every turn.
- While any attack will trigger "Battle Mode" (except for certain Area of Effect abilities with a note tag that disables that), the targeted party can only retaliate if the attacking party is within range for any of their abilities to be effective (i.e. Ranged weapons, magic, etc). Otherwise, they can only use defensive and healing skills or items to brace themselves unless the attacking party's skill has a note tag that disables the targets ability to retaliate.
