I know there's a topic already for this but I really don't understand the solution.

I just started making a game and can't for the life of me figure out how to talk to an NPC over the counter.

This is what I tried:

Went to database >

Selected Interior tileset > changed tab to counter

selected wood wall > changed icon to diamond

pressed apply and ok

redrawn the counter with the wood wall

played game - nothing happened. Couldn't talk to the NPC.

what am I doing wrong?

thanks for the help!

how did you setup the NPC?

The "talking" still needs to b triggered by action button, it wouldn't work if the NPC is set to a different trigger or to a different priority than "same as player".

Another way to prevent this would be wrong conditions on the event.

Please make a screenshot of the NPC event and attach that here.

Also test if this happens if instead of a regular event, you place a quick shop event behind the counter

Wall? I believe it should be the tables that you are meant to be tagging with the diamond.

I'm pretty sure that Andar is on the track here, the event needs to be set as 'same as character' and the table tile in question needs to be a diamond in order for it to work.

Thanks! I thought I could use any picture in the tileset for a counter but I see that the table has to be used. It works now.

Sorry for such a simple question!
