Tall / Large Character head Clipping trees and other objects

Hello,
I current am using a larger custom character and when play testing I notice that the trees are overlapping the head.
What is causing this and if this is because of the tile being normally 48x48 how do I change this for MZ?

It's caused by you using characters that are larger than what the engine is designed for?

You can use a plugin like this to make your in-game tiles have larger dimensions to accommodate your characters. Note that it requires you to have two versions of every tileset, for the editor and the game.

What are the down sides of doing this or using "this" plugin? Is the requirement to use two different tile set sizes a bad thing?

it depends on what exactly you use as spritesize.

@ATT_Turan s suggestion will work only if your new sprites are still to fit into the grid - which means if their sprites are squares, then you'll better off with changing the grid size.
and then the need to keep two sets of tilesets is just a bit more work, no real problem.

however if your sprites are NOT squares (like if you're using tall sprites of 48x96 pixels), then increasing the grid/tile size will not look good because it will space out your people.
There are other plugins to handle things for tall characters, often called "star passability fix" or something similar.
Sorry, I don't have any links for MZ, you'll have to search for them yourself.

Aside from what @Andar mentioned if you have elongated characters...the downside would be more work on your part to make two versions of every tileset?
