Tapping Gesture help

I'm making a VN demo and I'd really like to implement a tapping gesture whenever, and wherever the player taps/clicks on the screen. I already made a tapping animation (it has 16 frames, I've been testing it and I think it's too fast? So I might have to either add more frames or find out how to make it slow)

Does anyone know how to do this? I tried doing Wait for Input > Left Mouse Pressed then Show Animation but I'm pretty sure I'd need a script for it (since I have to specify where the animation is played = wherever cursor is clicked). I'm not very good with scripting so Action UI is my go-to when it comes to VN Maker.

Hi,

if you want to make the animation slower then just increase the Duration. If you want to display a tap animation whenever the mouse clicks without scripting you could maybe try to create a parallel common event in Database and there with the Input Data command you can check the state of mouse buttons as well as accessing the X and Y coordinates of the mouse cursor which you could use to position the animation. Does that help?

Thanks for the duration tip! I got it to go slower by setting it to 1000, I was just confused because in the animation preview, it was going so fast!

I added the Input Data command for Left Mouse Button - is there anything else I have to add to enable it? I don't know which commands to use for collecting the X and Y coordinates of the mouse;;; but it makes sense in my head! It's the implementation I struggle with...

The animation plays on-screen though (without the common event, just in general), but to make sure it does, I have to set it on repeat or I'll miss it.

I've been testing the common event to run parallel but now everytime I click, the entire game freezes. I even added an End Common Event - Mouse Click but it's still not working.

Hi, you can use Input Data to access Mouse X and Mouse Y. You can store the coordinates into two different number variables, one for X and one for Y. Then when you use Show Animation you selected "Calculated" for position instead of Direct. Then you will see two new fields for X and Y and there you will select your two variable to display the animation at mouse position.

I don't see why this should freeze. Maybe if it freezes again you can press F12 to show up the Debug Log and post it here.

Thank you for the Discord link!! I'll drop by ASAP! I got two Input Data commands for X and Y coordinates; this is what I have so far.

I unfortunately can't even test it as it still freezes my entire game. I'm not sure what to look for in the Debug log but I took a screenshot?

I even took the common event to a completely new project, and redownloaded VNM again. Does it have something to do with my checkboxes on the common event? I tried every option; if I take off Auto, it halts the freezing. I don't know what to do about it :\

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
