Hello, my first thread of hope!

I'm trying to set up a tent item, which I've done so. Using a script, the basic Day/night one from V.M., I managed to set it up so you can only use this item to sleep at night. You can trigger the tent from your inventory, and then get transferred to a small tent map. The point of this is that the tent can be used as a cooking location, a small campfire inside, and at certain story points the player can have little events with other main characters. I have all of this, aside from the events that's just future flavor, set up and running smoothly already.

The thing I'm having trouble with is having it send you back to your previous location. I've seen other topics relating to tents but only one of them actually sent the player to a tent location for it. The only issue with following that solution was that they are only going to be allowing use in the world map, I want it to be usable everywhere except interior maps.

That and I also can't get the solution found in that thread to work for me anyways on the temporary map I have set up for testing the tent. The game just keeps saying..

'Project name'

Unable to find file:

Data/Map000.rvdata2

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/7740-tentsresting-in-the-field/

That's the topic I was referring to with a similar case.

If anyone thinks they could help or needs more information I would be very grateful for all the help I can get ^^ I could easy take some screenshots of the current setup I have for the events, I'd just rather not if it really isn't needed.

Thank you for your time.

your error simply says that in this specific project, there is no map with the ID 000 and the event tries to transfer the player to that map.

That is correct, because no project has a map ID 000, all projects start with map ID 001.

Usually this happens when you try to use variables for targeting the transfer, and one of the variables contains the wrong number.

Basically what you have to do is to make a common event for the tent, and that event needs to have the following commands:

1) control variables[originX] : game data : character : player X

2) control variables[originY] : game data : character : player Y

3) control variables[originMap] : game data : other : map ID

4) transfer player to tent map

And the transfer command on the tent map needs to transfer the player to the variable setting stored in 1 to 3 of the common event activated by the tent

You can use a common event in the item (like you're probably already doing) to store the X, Y and Map ID in three separate variables. When you set up a "map transfer" entry in the event menu, there's option to transfer to variables. So, just set the transfer to transfer the player to the coordinates and map ID stored in the variables.

As for your Data problem, it seems like a script may be interfering, or either the map data or the map is missing. I've never seen that problem before though, so I can't really help much with it.

Hope it works out for you! :D

Wow xD The problem was that I was trying to use 'get location' instead of applying the coordinates to the variable correctly through control variable. I think I must have missed that selection when trying to figure out which to use in order to set it up. One of those situations where the solution is so obvious but just out of reach.

And I wasn't sure if the error was important or not so I included it anyways.

Thank you both so much!

Edit:

Err, and I'm not quite sure what method to go about to report the issue as resolved to a moderator. Private messaging or something else...? Or just, not worry about it considering Andar was the first one to reply? I just want to make sure I'm doing things properly. xD

Shaz has Mad Jedi Skillz when it comes to 'solved' threads. She'll have this locked in no time.

lol! I can see I'll have to start being a bit less predictable around here ...

AiMakai, normally when you're done with a thread, you just report the first post and add a comment that it's resolved and you'd like it locked. Then the first moderator who has mod abilities in that forum will take care of it :)

This thread is being closed, due to being solved. If for some reason you would like this thread re-opened, please report this post and leave a message why. Thank you.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
