Just want to be clear. The new terms of use lets me use the RPG Maker assets like RTP, Sounds, the character generator and animation creator in other engines such as RPG Developer Bakin?

Also not sure where to even post this question so mods feel free to move this to the right place.

I dont know, but if they allow it, I think you still need to legal the engine
in the first place, if you dont own MV but have the assets, you cannot use them.

I think you need to own a legal license in order to use it else where as long you
dont sell the materials for it.

just be carefull with the assets from others what they allow though.

I indeed own RPG Maker MV. Was hoping to use the character generator mainly for other projects lol.

I think this needs a definitive answer, rather than guesswork or supposition on the part of other members.
@Touchfuzzy ?
Hopefully I get some sort of definitive answer. I just don't want to invest a lot of time into something then find out I misunderstood lol.

To save other people some bit of hunting back and forth, here are the revised terms in English on the official site: https://rpgmakerofficial.com/en/support/rule/

And the new portion in question:

So yes, it does say that purchasing an RPG Maker allows you to use the included assets in other game-creation tools.

Hey, we are currently awaiting official clarification from GGG over at KOMODO, as soon as we have it, I'll be able to answer with authority.
Sounds good!

Update
●The materials included in the RPG Maker series were previously allowed to be used only in the RPG Maker series, but that restriction has been removed.
This means that the included materials of the RPG Maker series can be used with other tools now. However, these terms and conditions apply only to those who have purchased the RPG Maker product.
Example:
・If you don't have MZ, you can't use MZ materials in Unity
・If you have MZ, you can use MZ materials in Unity● Additional updates have been made to "Article 2 (Restriction on Use)". ●The terms of use of each DLC produced by GGG (formerly KADOKAWA) are the same as before. Only Unite related DLC has an update with its terms of use.

That is still confusing :(

"that restriction has been removed" and "the terms of use of each DLC ... are the same as before. Only Unite related DLC has an update with its terms of use" are contradictory. Unless they mean "the restriction has been removed for Unite only".

And by "in Unity" do they mean "in Unite" or can you use MZ materials in Unity if you're not using Unite? And can you use MZ materials in Game Maker?

"that restriction has been removed" and "the terms of use of each DLC ... are the same as before.
I don't read that. "that restriction has been removed" is referring to "materials included in the RPG Maker series were previously allowed to be used only in the RPG Maker series," emphasis mine.

So any assets you got from purchase of an RPG Maker engine (the RTP) can be used with any other game making software you own.

Only Unite related DLC has an update with its terms of use" are contradictory.
It says "The terms of use of each DLC produced by GGG are the same as before" (emphasis again mine). So assets you purchased outside of the software, DLC, are not free to use in other game makers. Only the RTP that came with RPG Maker itself.

The part you quoted indicates that DLC for RPG Maker Unite will have terms of use allowing it to be used in any software, like its RTP.

And by "in Unity" do they mean "in Unite" or can you use MZ materials in Unity if you're not using Unite?
Correct, I read "in Unity" as an example for any other game making software. It's just a bit confusing that they chose that example when they just released RPG Maker Unite.

Basically anything that is RTP in the GGG products line you can use outside of RPGM [This is only if you bought the GGG product you want to use outside of RPGM]. DLCs you will have to check each DLCs terms of use to see if you can use those DLCs the same way you would with RTP.
